DD13 and I have a free day in Bath on Saturday - anyone got any ideas of the best way to spend it? DD would spend the whole day shopping but I want to do "something"

There's a fantastic board game cafe (next to the Jane Austin museum) that I'd recommend- the guys in there can recommend out of the hundreds of games they have inc. loads of 2 player ones

Also worth an Abbey tour where you walk up to the top of the Abbey and can see across the whole of Bath

You could go for a punt on the river - bathwickboatman.com

Sorry, the boats are at bathboating.co.uk (although the restaurant I linked is lovely as well!)

Go to the baths and Roman museum - it's fascinating.

Wander along the river.

Paddleboarding

See the Circus and the Royal Crescent
Museums

The Thermae Baths or the Roman Baths.

Afternoon tea or brunch in The Ivy or Sweet Little Things.

Mary Shelley House.

If it's nice, Victoria park is lovely and I think they're filming Bridgerton somewhere around there currently so could track them down!

Boats are a great idea. You can also do a shortened version of the Bath Skyline walk if you want great views and a bit of countryside. It is hilly though!

The spa is a bit overrated but the rooftop pool is lovely if it's good weather.

The Roman Baths are really worth a visit (depending on whether you're likely to come back another time?). Definitely book ahead on a Saturday.

There's a new World Heritage Centre on York St, just behind the Roman Baths. It's small, free and has some fantastic interactive displays - it puts Bath into context re: the Romans, Georgians etc. They also have a choice of great little free trail maps to take.

Bath Carnival is happening that afternoon - it's brilliant but check out the route in case you want to avoid it! It'll be hard to miss tbh - Bath is a small place : )

It's supposed to be hot on Saturday.

There is a "beach" at Royal Victoria Park not far from Charlotte St car park (have some mocktails/cocktails and laze about to rest your legs).

If you've not seen a canal lock before, take a walk along Widcombe flight and grab a cake/icecream at pump house lock or on the way to Sydney Gardens.

The Fashion Museum is worth a visit. It's in the basement of the Assembly Rooms.

Hi, please can anyone advise on which park and ride site we should use in Bath - we will be coming into Bath from Bristol, on a weekday morning, then after spending the day in Bath, we need to drive to Limpley Stoke hotel. I’m not sure if any particular P&R site is better located than another for our route? Thanks!

MrsMoastyToasty · 05/08/2023 23:59

Newbridge P&R is the one on the Bristol side of Bath, but Odd Down is closest to Limpley Stoke.

CreatureBump · 06/08/2023 08:52

Thank you!
