Hi!

I am going on my first family holiday with my 4 month old and am looking for days out ideas! We are staying near Bath and are happy to travel an hour or so outside of this area.

My daughter is only 4 months so there isn't much we can do for her benefit other than being out and about but we're hoping for a day at a beach of anyone could recommend somewhere nice? What's Weston Super Mare like?

Any other ideas for a good day out? We will have a wonder round Bath for one day, is Bristol worth a visit?

Any recommendations welcome :)

Haven't been to Weston for a few years-but it was pretty tired and rundown then!
Bristol is definitely worth a visit. Walk around the harbour side from the ss Great Britain, & there are great places to eat at Whapping wharf.

Weston pier is actually quite good but the town itself is nothing special. I wouldn’t go with a baby because one of you will have to stay with the baby while the other goes on a ride on their own. I find most UK beaches quite bleak tbh 😄

Cheddar’s nice for an amble. Wells is a nice city for lunch. Longleat for a full blown day out.

There’s a lovely walk at Chew Valley called the Glebe Trail which is hard surfaced and suitable for pushchairs.
Ditto the Burnham-on-Sea Coastal Walk - start at St. Andrews Church and head south along the esplanade.
There’s another walk detailed here which takes you over the Clifton Suspension Bridge with amazing views.
We’ve done Stonehenge with a buggy. The visitor centre and shuttle bus are fully accessible with step-free access onto the bus. The grass paths around the monument would be fine in dry weather but could get difficult in the rain. There isn’t loads of walking to do, apart from around the circle itself, so you could bring a sling instead. The cafe will warm up milk and there are nappy changing facilities at the visitor centre.

Tyntesfield NT is a lovely place - walks, gardens etc

Somerset Lavender Farm, near Radstock

The beach at Weston is fine, but stay in the sand but as it has got a lot of mud too. You could also try Brean or Burnham on Sea.

Wells is nice. Weston is a dump.
