The UK is a pretty big place - you need to be more specific about where you are travelling to to get a sensible answer!

I would confidently say any cafe or restaurant you are spending money in will be happy to provide hot water and/or use of a microwave if they have one.

Changing facilities are usually fine in most bigger chain eateries, and places like supermarkets and shopping centres, but smaller independent businesses can be hit and miss usually depending on how much space they have. I always took a travel sized changing mat out with us and found a quiet place to do it if there are no appropriate facilities.

Where about a in the UK?

ProclivityForPyrotechnics · 09/06/2022 02:54

Such a bizarre question! The us is massive (ok not compared to the us), I could tell you about this cute cafe near me that's really child friendly, but if you're going to London or wales or Northern Ireland my suggestion is useless...

If you need warm water, your best bet to make sure you definitely have it is to take a thermos. For changing, make sure you have a mat and then you can put it down on top of a toilet seat if there isn't a changing table. Then you're not dependent on facilities.

Uk* not us

I’ve been to restaurants with children’s menus and high chairs but no changing facilities so it’s hit and miss. I’ve never known anywhere not provide hot water for baby food but can always take a thermos. Most hotels will have an electric kettle in the room.

I do understand that the UK is a big place and I guess i should have stated then I meant in general not really place specific. I have read some media stories about mums being harassed about feeding etc. Thank you all for your replies. I really like the thermos idea as a last resort back up.

Don’t believe everything you see in the media.
We have been all over The UK and never had an issue feeding the children at any age

"harassed about feeding"?? As in breastfeeding?

nightshade · 09/06/2022 09:36

Can babies not eat normal food?...

I always ordered something in a restaurant that i could share with mine? Or had a banana or a tub of something in my bag..

Entirely depends how old, doesn't it? The comment about warm water suggested to me that OP is formula feeding.

MrsSkylerWhite · 09/06/2022 09:42

You’ll struggle unless you’re buying food yourself, in which cafes/restaurants will all be happy to provide hot water.
alternatively, ready to drink formulas are available in most supermarkets and all hotel rooms provide kettles so you could bring a thermos.

for your two year old, almost all cafes and restaurants serve child sized portions.
