Hotel with parking and train access to London

We are a family of 4 (two young teens) coming for a UK holiday at the beginning of July. We are travelling from the Holyhead ferry terminal and will probably break our journey with an overnight stay somewhere along the route before we make stop one which is Harry Potter studio tour.
We would like to visit London city centre on one or two days, no particular plans yet except the children want to go on the London eye and hopefully we will get to see at least one museum!
We might go to Thorpe park for a day but that is not essential.
We have four nights to find accommodation for before we go to Center Parcs in Woburn. I’ve been looking at budget hotels - Premier Inn, Travelodge, Holiday Inn. Where would be a good base that might have parking and easy access to a good train line to London?
Thanks for any suggestions!

Twickenham is a 30 minute drive from a Thorpe park and 25 min train into Waterloo. A Travelodge next door to the station.

York has a premier Inn with parking, literally 3 minutes from the station with plenty of direct trains to London daily.

Novotel at Heathrow. Parking included. Then get the airport bus to the terminal to catch the tube into Central london.

Thank you for the suggestions. I can’t seem to find availability at the Novotel. I do see other Heathrow hotels. Is there a particular terminal that is better for access?
I will have a look at Twickenham. I think York might be too far out as we will drive to the Harry Potter Studios.
Other possibilities I have seen from searching on here are Egham, Uxbridge, Watford, Staines or Walton (which I have been to before). I’m not sure which of those would be better for train costs?

If you are going to Harry Potter Studios, why not just stay in Watford for a few nights? There is certainly a Premier Inn there, and it's easy to get into London Euston by train.

Uxbridge probably cheapest commute as on underground but not by much . What about Windsor, handy for Thorpe Park or Legoland, and a pleasant and topical town in its own right unlike the others you suggest. Commutable into central London. Or check out places along new Elizabeth Line.

I would second Windsor /Eton, although parking might be expensive. Direct train to Waterloo or branch line to Paddington via Slough.

Milton Keynes? Iirc the hotels right by the Station don't have unlimited free parking (you could get lucky), but the hotels 5 10 minutes away have free parking. Eg the Premier Inn at Furzton lake is about a 10 min taxi away. Or hire bikes, or scooters, or walk!

You could wow your teens with robot delivery of groceries or take away.

VERY near Woburn, fast train 30 ish mins to Euston, with Watford on the way.

Thank you. I did wonder about Watford to make it easy but maybe I should consider somewhere like Windsor so that we have options if we don’t want to travel far some of the days?

Chessington works well, it’s free parking and a five minute walk from the train station, forty minutes into London, zone 6 on travel card. What I like is it’s an actual train in rather than an underground so a more pleasant journey in. It goes straight to Waterloo for the London eye too.

We usually stay in the theme park hotel as it’s not too much more than the premier inn next door but you get a room with a seperate bunk bed area for the kids and you get your breakfast (although breakfast is full of noisy small children). It’s not too far from Thorpe park either.

We have stayed at premier inn Wimbledon Broadway (nice fairly new hotel) before which I like better but doesn’t have free parking, very close to the train though and on the same line as chessington just closer to London. Wimbledon south has free parking and is near Colliers Wood tube station but I’ve never stayed there so can’t give an opinion 😊
