Passport advice URGENT help please!

My son has just discovered his passport expired a month ago. He is 20, his passport ran from April 17 to April 22 so a child's passport I guess. He wants to go travelling in July and passport renewals are taking up to 10 weeks. We don't really understand all the different fast track options and when we've checked there aren't any appointments anyway... Would really appreciate any advice! He does look quite different now facially, not sure if that's a factor or not?

ive just done a child’s renewal online. Very quick and easy with an 11 day turnaround.

Mine came today. 25 April to 13 May, was printed on the 10 May. So 18 days, pretty impressive seen as it also included a name change.

None has been stuck since 02 April whereas my friend got hers back in ten days. Really is pot luck!

Got my son’s passport back this morning, having applied online 24th April. I sent the old passport by Special Delivery next day. It took them 2 weeks to acknowledge receipt of the old one, but I could tell they had been received it by putting the certificate of posting reference number into the Post Office tracking service at royalmail.com.
It was just a renewal (he’s 15), but pretty impressive service I thought!
Your son’s may be a bit more complicated if he doesn’t look the same facially, but I think they contact you to tell you if they need any further verification.

I’ve just had my son’s child to adult renewal done, took 25 days. Longest wait was for them to realise the old passport had been received. Five days later new one arrived. He’d changed quite a bit, he was 12 in his last photo, didn’t have a problem.

I just renewed my DDs passport, we did the application online on 11th May, on 20th May they asked to resubmit the photo which I did within an hour, it got approved that night and I received it in the post today.
