Inspiration for break with DD

Hello,
We would like to take 15 year old daughter for a break for a couple of days this year as her sibling will be away with school.
We usually do cottage style breaks in the UK but I think she may like a change of scene (and so do I)
We think a combination of city plus some option to relax (like a beach close by or maybe a teen spa) would be good.
We did York a few years ago and that was nice.
I was thinking Liverpool but would prefer somewhere closer to the South East of England.
If anyone has any ideas that would be great!
Thank you

Brighton?
I was going to suggest Edinburgh if you liked York but maybe too far if you want somewhere closer than Liverpool!

Bath? The Kent coast like Whitstable?

Liverpool is a great compact historic city it also has some very nice beaches

Depending on time Liverpool and Llandudno are a great combination about 60 -90 mins drive from Liverpool centre

Very much depends on what you both like to do.

The kids (13 & 11) and I visited Liverpool last year with family who live near there - having never been and having no real knowledge of what was there I was SO impressed. What an amazing city. Naturally there is all the Beatles stuff but also the waterfront, a trip on a Mersey Ferry and so on as well as some fab eateries. However, we visited the British Music Experience but my favourite was Wester Approaches - an underground bunker used in WWII - really interesting. liverpoolwarmuseum.co.uk/

You also have the choice of London which has endless options for teenagers from markets to attractions and experiences and a short distance on the train to Brighton for a trip to the beach or you can get out to the country.

At Easter we used an app which some friends recommended which covers places across the UK - was super easy and really cost effective, making your money go further and not tying you to any one place - perhaps worth looking at. The site is Keetoo.com

Thanks for the suggestions!
Bath and Liverpool both on the list and I am having a browse for things to do and will decide from there.
I think I want to go more than her!
