We are staying in Bath soon, looking for happy hour, 2 for 1 deals and unusual/ hidden /quirky places to visit, Tia.

It's not hidden or unusual but my dh and I recently did the guided tour up the tower at Bath Abbey and it was surprisingly interesting with some cool views over the city. You get to go right behind the clock face and learn about the bells etc. Would recommend.

This was me on a tight budget:-

  • Both Bath bus tours- the hop on and off type. The tickets last for 24 hours so you can get lots of use out of them. Personally, I took picnics to then eat on these tours. Stuffing my face whilst looking at gorgeous architecture- yes please!
  • Walking tours- arranged or ones you can plan yourself from internet (particularly YouTube).
  • Roman baths- obviously- it wouldn’t be a proper trip without this delight. Book online as hard to get the best slots.
  • Sally Lynn’s coffee shop is popular, gets v busy though so good luck with that. Lots of tea rooms and cafes that I think you need to find yourself as your taste may be different to mine!
  • Gigs- always lots in as v student-friendly place
Sublimely stunning place and I’m quite envious you’re going, but a bit busy for me. Try and leave for trips etc, early in the morning. Enjoy!

It's tourist central, not many offers. Do the spa, without kids, and have a nice meal

Again, like many amazing places, if you walk around extensively, you will discover gems- really random museums and bars!

I’m organising a trip to Bath soon - so also interested in any tips.
I found a company that does a boat & walking tour which looks good to see all the main sights. They also did evening gin or Prosecco boat tours too.

Graze next to the station does delicious food and drink. We also like Fire House Rotisserie for food. Thermae spa and Roman baths are a must. Sally Lunn's for a bath bun, sit in Abbey Square and enjoy the buskers in the sun with an ice cream.

For brunch / lunch we often go to the big Boston Tea Party (not the small one!), it's very reliable with lovely food and not too expensive.

We enjoyed the Bath skyline walk and the Jane Austen museum as well as the Roman baths. Opa does lovely Greek food in fantastic building and has cocktail offers usually. Have a great time.

The family noodle bar is honestly the best ‘restaurant’ (I use that term loosely!) that I have ever eaten in, anywhere! Tiny place next to a bus depot. Really reasonable prices. Delicious!

For lunch we ate at a place called Chai Walla, an Indian street food place, they do some really lovely things - onion bhaji wrap was delicious!

Mama1980 · 07/05/2022 21:35

Sally Lunn's is great, not too expensive and the food/service is amazing.

Plumpanda · 06/06/2022 21:59

Thank you for all the ideas, we had a lovely weekend. Chai walla wraps were really good, We made a bauble at Bath Aqua glass studio, there's hop on hop off bus tour that has a 24 hour ticket that we'll do next time.
