Stratford upon Avon

I have booked 2 nights in Stratford upon Avon for me and 2 teen DD’s (both with ASD, one with mobility issues) after seeing a thread about it on here.

I’m now thinking 2 nights/3 days may not be long enough. So what are the must see places and what’s not worth visiting? Dd1 will want to see see Shakespeare’s house/birth place, dd2 will be more interested in food and shops and I prefer quite places and nature. Can we fit it all in?

Also recommendations for places to eat that does basic food as dd1 has lots of sensory issues with food and a limited diet so somewhere nice but not too fancy.

Three days is fine. We started at Birthplace when it opened at 10.00 and it took about an hour to go round. We then walked to New Place (10 min walk) but didn’t spend quite as long there. Anne Hathaway cottage is then a mile walk (20 min) or you can drive as loads of parking. I think it’s the nicest bit. We did all of them same day and still had time to visit shops on high street.
We then spent about an hour or so at the Schoolroom when it opened the following day.
The tower at the RST has amazing views over the river and town. And there’s a lift if you don’t fancy the stairs. Well worth it. There’s a leaflet pointing out the landmarks.
Tudor World is a great place to head to for the whole family as there are lots of interactive elements. When we went my dc took part in the written witch trial.
In terms of shopping, check out the Nutcracker Christmas shop and Magic Alley.
Edward Moon is a nice brasserie which does fairly simple food like grilled fish and new potatoes, pan roasted chicken breast, steak etc… The Encore is a really good gastropub which does basics like fish and chips, burgers and
There are also chain Italian restaurants which do basics like Margherita pizza and spaghetti carbonara.

Thank you, I’m hoping to cram lots into each day. Dd1 has a blue badge so I’m happy driving between places if there disabled parking. Dd1 will eat Italian which is great. I will have a look a Tudor world.

The Fourteas Tearoom on Sheep St (so very near the theatre) is good for "plain food" because it is a deliberate pastiche of a 1940s cafe (but it is good!).
There is also a Carluccio's very close by for your Italian food.
Even if you can't get to a play, I would recommend doing the RSC theatre tour, which us fascinating. You would need to book in advance via the RSC website.
