Does anyone have any advice on where the best place to eat with the under 3's is?
I've heard there's a soft play area at Hugos which might be calmer than the one at Hucks. Is this true and is it worth the extra walk (to the country club area)?
we're going outside of school holidays
thanks

hi, thanks for getting back to me. i've just been taking a closer look and i think the menu - as nice as it looks, isn't really appropriate for this age group (and we're going to have 4 under 3s in tow!). will bear it in mind for when they are older.
thanks again.

Hugo's posher than hucks really - that's all.

Play area in hucks is quite scary but for under 3s it's OK as downstairs bit only.

Hugo's has a great soft play area, though it might be a bit on the big side for very little ones. You can't see inside it from the tables so you might not be able to relax. Food is okay - American diner style. Bella Italia has a laughable play area. It's a small padded 'box' with nothing for the kids to do as far as I could see. There used to be a French place which had a brilliant toddler play area but that was being converted into a Cafe Rouge when we were there in November so have no idea what it's like now. The Country Club has a decent play area - indoor and out - and the food is very good. If you get a table near the play area, you should be able to see your kids at all times. There's another play area in the Sports Bar too but we've never managed to get a table in there so I couldn't tell you what the food is like. There's also Cafe Refresh which has a few things for kids to play on but it's very fast food and not somewhere you can sit and linger for a proper meal.

Are you going over a weekend? If you are, be careful what time you eat on a Sunday. We had an absolute nightmare because we wanted to eat at about 4.00ish and just couldn't get in anywhere. Sports Bar was full as there was a match on and people were watching that, the French place was closed for refurbishment, Hugo's does a brunch in the morning then closes until 5.00pm. We walked all the way over to the Country Club as a last resort, only to find they were serving Sunday roast only which we'd have been happy to eat but they said they were full. Lots of empty tables, but apparently they were full. They wouldn't squeeze us in, even though the DCs (3 and 4) were literally crying by now as they were so hungry. We went all the way back to the piazza to try the Italian but they turned us away as they were short-staffed. I ended up calling out the catering manager and complaining. Sorry to hijack your thread with a rant but I just wanted you to be aware that you can't eat at any time you like, certainly on a Sunday.

Don't let me put you off, though! We've been to Elvedon twice and had a great time both times and will definitely go back.
