Cornwall with a toddler

We are going to be staying in Marazion for a week in June with our 2.5 year old son and my parents. Looking for any toddler friendly recommendations or must visit places. Our son loves trains/tractors and anywhere with a good playground!

We're hoping to spend a couple of days/afternoon's on Marazion beach and a trip to St Michaels Mount. We're wondering about the Eden project on the drive home but not heard great things.... is it worth a visit? The other option is the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Any ideas for rainy days too?
All advice appreciated

With a toddler I'd do Heligan rather than Eden.
Look at the Tate St Ives, they sometimes run family activity sessions in holidays. There's a great playground just near Marazion so that's ideal.
Blue Reef Aquarium at Newquay is fab.
Paradise Park at Hayle? Don't know if it's open yet.
Also look at Lappa Valley
Great beaches at Hayle - Gwithian Towans etc. Just keep an eye on the tides!
And there's always Flambards too.

I wouldn't bother with the Eden project at that age. Its pretty expensive and he probably wouldn't be that interested in most of it.

Flambards - I've never been but heard of it
Seal sanctuary?
Get the park and ride from St Erth to St Ives and go to the nice beach there
Arcades and stuff in penzance

To the honest at that age if the weather is even slightly fine i would just go to the beach all day.

Definitely do Heligan - it’s brilliant and much better than the Eden Project for that age group. St Michael’s Mount is also brilliant. Obviously the beach is a must - if you can, head down the coast to Porthcurnick Beach. It’s a beautiful beach with fantastic rock pools and a superb place to eat (The Hidden Hut). We also went to ape Dennis Castle which we enjoyed.

Thank you everyone. Sounds like Heligan is a must and hopefully we'll be able to make the most of the beaches.

There's a lovely model train layout at Mevagissy - check opening times

Hi! Lots to do in Cornwall with a toddler. I recommend Lappa Valley, the Minack Theatre (see if they have any children’s shows on), Helston has a lovely park and boating lake. Boscawen park in Truro is also very Toddler friendly. You could get the train from St Erth to St Ives (much easier than trying to park there), Paradise Park (bird and animal zoo/park) at Hayle, Maritime museum at Falmouth, Raze the Roof soft play at Penryn, lots of National Trust properties to visit. Hope that helps 😊

Another vote for lappa valley, went when DS just turned 3 he's a big train fan and loved it, good play grounds there too

We took out 2 1/2 year old to Perranporth last summer, spent most days on the beach but also went to Lost Gardens of Heligan which was fantastic and Lappa Valley, which was a lot smaller than expected but still brilliant

Train to St Ives, change at St Erth, better than parking in St Ives.
