Camden market or alternatives?

13 year old DD and I have a weekend in London soon. She’s getting into steampunk and goth fashion etc. From my memories of youth, I seem to remember Camden market on a Sunday was great for that sort of thing, is that still the case? Is there somewhere better? Where are the best parts of Camden to head to?

Portobello Road market on a Saturday morning has a good fashion part.

The end that's next to Ladbroke Grove tube station has a lot of clothes stalls .

You will be very disappointed in Camden Market, it has been modified over the last four or so years. The suggestion of Portobello Road is a good one.

When you've been a few times yes, it's all a bit samey and all a bit touristy but I think as a first time visitor, a 13 year old would find plenty to blow her mind her at Camden. It's much more impressive in terms of size than anywhere else I can think of and still feels quite countercultural in places.

I don't know the specifics of Portobello Road market, but the surrounding area feels quite chi-chi compared to Camden. Brixton indoor Market is cool but more hipster, Spitalfields and Greenwich Markets good for craft/-type items, Broadway Market lovely for food - but not for a steampunk-wannabe 13 year old.

The only other place I can think that might rival Camden is the area around a Brick Lane where there are a lot of vintage shops - but if steampunk / goth is the thing then Camden is probably still the place.

Thank you all. I think you’re right @MorrisOxford Camden might be more corporate than the heady days of the mid 90s (although even then everyone was moaning it was getting more mainstream), but it is still 100x more goth/ steampunk than our provincial market town.
