We're going to be in London for the Friday and Saturday night. It's going to be heaving isn't it? is there anywhere we can escape to for some peace on the Saturday? Thinking a nice picnic peaceful spot. Unfortunately we can't get out of going to London at that time so trying to plan something.

Epping Forest is very quiet and peaceful. Take the central line to Loughton or Theydon Bois or the overground to Chingford. There are a number of marked walking trails, most of which are about 2-3 miles. If you take the train to Chingford, when you exit the station, walk towards Royal Forest Hotel and Butlers Pond where you will see a trail that leads you to the Connaught Water lake. The lake is absolutely stunning and popular with dog walkers, however, once you leave this part of the forest the number of people on the trails greatly reduces. From there head to Strawberry Hills Pond.
Colley Hill is another easily manageable and extremely rewarding option. Start walking from the Wray Lane car park, near Gratton Park, following the North Downs Way trail west. The trail goes through woods and grass with beautiful wildflowers in summer. It should take less than one hour up and down.Soif you want a bit more exercise, the trail up nearby Reigate Hill also starts from the car park. Reigate is the closest station and about a 20 min walk from Wray Lane carpark.London to Reigate takes about 45mins fromBlackfriarsor Victoria.
