What was it like?

How were the boats, what types?

What about tuition?

Was it very expensive?

TIA
KMc

lake was quite small

i was fairly new to it so i was in a small laser - dont remember the type

there were a few boats about - not a great set up but then you only go for an hour or so

cant remember how much either but it will say on their website

DH has done a bit of sailing in his youth - lasers, etc and was quite excited at the prospect of doing some sailing at CP. We've been to Longleat, Whinfell and Sherwood and at each one he has said that the lakes were too small to do any decent sailing. Guess it would be ok for a beginner but not for anyone with any experience.

HTH, I don't know how much sailing experience you have. You will get prices in the booklet they send about 4 weeks before your break. Unless someone on MN has kept hold of their book.

current brochure for Elveden -

kayak tuition/sailing tuition/windsurfing tuition - 22.00 per hour min age 10 yrs

Doesn't mention the boat types. Can't tell you any more as we go mid-winter and avoid the lake like the plague!

There are also dinghies/boats/canoes to hire for pottering around in

Ouch that's expensive - Hmm I don't think it's for us them

DD normally spends 3 or 4 hrs a day sailing

& DH & I do an hour or 2

OK we will write off that for an idea then

Thanks for the info

yes years ago
in a Topper
in february
in norfolk
cost a fortune but the teaching was good - got our RYA level 1 or summat

wheresthehamster · 07/01/2008 20:05

Ah - that is for people who want to learn the basics.

If you are already experienced it doesn't really have any info apart from the sailing dinghies which you can hire from 7.00 per hour and windsurfers 7.00 per 30 mins

KatyMac · 07/01/2008 20:08

Ah that sounds better

We can run to that - much cheaper than going abroad

Hmm - bit more research I think
