Best days out with children

What are the best things you have done with your primary aged children in the UK? Are there any days out that you'd recommend for a great time for the whole family? We are in East Anglia, but am looking for ideas anywhere in the country.

If you like animals I’d recommend The west midland safari park and the Seal sanctuary in Gweek ( Cornwall) .

Paultons park / Peppa Pig World
Its great, really clean and well maintained. A really good variety of rides - the peppa pig rides are all suitable for babies upwards, but there are also proper roller coasters, a big soft play, splash parks, lovely gardens and aviaries. The queues are not too horrendous either, we went in half term and the longest queue was about 10 minutes for the rides we went on.

Beamish up near Durham is great fun. Can spend a few days exploring

We live mid way between North Wales and the Lakes, but spent more time in North wales as it is less congested and easier to travel around.
The beaches are great it has busy Fish and Chip towns and quiet villages a short drive away, something for everyone

Walesby Forest. Its a Scout/Guide camp, but if its not busy its open to the public for camping and activities. Its £17 each this year, but on each day we went last year the kids did climbing, canoeing, archery, axe throwing, cave mazing, shooting, laser quest, obstacle course, bushcraft, waterside into the lake, raft building, abseiling.. they have 6 or so activities on in the morning and afternoon and you can do as many as you physically have time for. Plus the swimming pool which isn't heated so a bit chilly!

Twin Lakes theme park in Melton Mowbray. It’s the perfect size for small children.

Climbing mountains - hundreds of days to be had. Start with easy hills, head into places like the Peak, and then Wales, Lakes and a Scotland has a lifetime of days out. One of mine's favourite day ever was a snowy Munro day.
Cycling - again, hundreds of days out and overnight cycling trips to be had. Some really quiet places, even no traffic, for road or mountain bikes.
I've alway canoed and kayaked, so mine have grown up with that. Some of thier favourite trips have been on Scottish rivers.

I'm fortunate, but also part of the upbringing they have had, but I've three who now spend weekends with bike club, climbing hills and planning to visit the Alps or Sierra's... I'll take that as a success.
