Holiday inn express

A bit of a odd one but here goes. Dd2 is a big fan of holiday inn express, we stayed in one last year and she loved the all you can eat breakfast 😬. Both dc said they prefer to stay in a cheap hotel than a lodge or caravan so instead of doing a week away in a lodge they would rather spend a few nights in holiday inn and visit a few different places.

So can anyone recommend a good holiday inn express? In a good location where we can find things to do for a couple days (shopping, walking, sight seeing)?

I haven’t stayed in a HIE for years but premier inns would probably meet your requirements too. From memory the breakfast is better than HIE and kids under 12 eat free when an adult buys the full breakfast.

DD’s are 15 and 17 so we won’t qualify for the free breaky 😭

HIE have air conditioning
I’ve only ever stayed in 2 premier inns and didn’t get any sleep in either!

We stayed in a good one in Bristol op.
SS Great Britain was a good visit

Always plenty to do in York too & they have a couple of HIE.

The one at shepperton is nice and a very short car journey from Kingston which was lovely and you could walk along the river nearby too.

Oh although it might be a holiday inn rather than an express if that makes a difference.

I stopped in a decent one near Bodmin recently. Bodmin isn't a nice place (the hotel isn't in the town anyway, it's on a sort of services area) but I imagine it's a good base for visiting most of Cornwall.

Thank you, will check these out. I’m in the south so Bristol is doable as is Bodmin.

To be fair, having seen a teenager tackle an all you can eat breakfast buffet it’s still worth paying for them!

Cardiff bay? Loads to do in Cardiff

Inverness is good but quite a long way! It's between the airport and the city centre, and there's loads to do in the area.

The Bradford HIE is really good.
There is the Alhambra theatre and good cinemas.
The media museum. Ice skating.
You're near Haworth home of the Brontes, the Dales and Skipton with a good market and a castle.
And the shops have definitely improved in Bradford.
Lots of good curry restaurants too.

My DS is a big fan of Tamworth Holiday Inn. Bit of a random location but there's Drayton Manor, a Snowdrome, and a castle (and nice castle park) for a bit of history.

DS also loves the breakfasts - we set the toast machine on fire with a croissant last time.
