Pretty stuck on where to go this summer! Tell me your favourites?! Suitable for family with young kids age 5 & 7.

With kids around that age our best holidays were Sandy Balls in the New Forest, Pentewan Sands in Cornwall and Haven Greenacres in north Wales.

Eurocamp Camping La Croix Du Vieux Pont a campsite near Paris. Live it there.

Sandy balls 😂

Oh yes sandy balls I had forgotten about that place 😂
The Eurocamp place looks ace too, I've been looking at Eurocamp but hadn't paid that one much attention because its not on the coast.

Isle of Wight. Perfect.

Norfolk, on the way up stop at Bewilderwood in Wroxham. It's absolutely brilliant for kids and near the Broads if you fancied a boating holiday or trip. Along the east cost and up to North Norfolk, there are many beautiful beaches. Holkham, Wells, Cromer, Mundesley are great.

Bluestone, in Pembrokeshire. Really should start taking DCs abroad but we love it so keep going back.

Fantastic deals if they get you before school age. Still adjusting to school holiday prices Grin

We had a great trip to the Isle of Mull (Balamory).

You could get a Quest or challenge from the Tourist Office to try different things on the Island - some paid, some free - and then get a 'treasure' at the end. It made you aware of the multitude of things to do and see.

Castles, gardens, steam train, boat trip, beaches, wildlife walks, woods..... Calgary beach is amazing. Golden sand and rock pools, and a lovely cafe.

The Northumberland coast ditto. Lots of castles, seal and bird watching boat trips, Lindisfarne and the causeway. Glorious beaches - we liked Bamburgh beach best.

We've been there twice now. They do trips to Disneyland (although we drive as that means we can stay longer) and coach trips in to Paris. There's loads to do on the campsite too, if you don't fancy leaning. Pool is lovely too and they have a man made beach.

There are some great suggestions here, thanks all!

The Poole/ studland area. Love the area around Poole harbour with a boat trip to brownsea island. Lovely beaches with (in my opinion) the warmest water in the U.K. near enough the new forest for a day trip and splash down water park for if the weathers not great.

Also love Cornwall. But it’s got so expensive in the summer, but begrudge paying as much for a caravan as I would do to go abroad.

Corfu. Warm, beautiful, friendly local and cheap. Can go for a week in the summer for the price of a caravan in Cornwall!

whiteroseredrose · 25/01/2022 15:59

I forgot the best of the lot - North Wales.

Conway has a castle, the smallest house in Great Britain.

Llandudno is a nice traditional seaside resort with a pier, and a cable car up Great Orme.

You can go up Snowdon (maybe by train).

There are miniature trains, Greenwood Forest Park, Harlech Castle.

Butlins.
North Wales, there is loads to do and some fantastic beaches, our dcs loved it.
Northumberland, we stay near Alnwick great castle and gardens. Close to bamburgh and seahouses with fantastic beaches. Can easily visit Edinburgh for the day.

I can second PrettyBluebells' suggestion. We took our children to La Croix Du Vieux Pont many years ago and visited Disney while there. A beautiful area with quaint towns and villages nearby.

Cruses and the winter caravan trips we did in a £100 caravan, we had some great times.
Another Vote for North Wales a few ideas here

Scarborough - yes , we are biased but our love affair with Scarborough began with magical childhood holidays there. Wonderful mixture of stunning scenery and old seaside charm . Plenty of attractions for little people and the North Yorks Moors, Filey, Whitby , Robin Hood’s bay just a short drive away . We have travelled quite a bit over the years and and nowhere has knocked Scarborough off our number 1 spot .
