So in april Im planning to fly from south england to scottland for a family event.

I will be 6 months pregnant and my son will be 17 months old. Any tips? I will be traveling with several family members too!

Also am i right in thinking my 17 month old does not need a passport to go from england to scottland? What would i need to bring with me? Father will not be with us but his surname is double barreled with mine so shouldnt be any problems?

Oh and if you are over a certain number of weeks pregnant you need a fit to fly letter and check from your midwife. Think it’s 30 something weeks though?

Natz coming out in force.

Writing off the facts and the beliefs of half of Scottish people?

That's incredibly disrespectful.

@CraftyGin

Natz coming out in force.
Or someone pointing out an important point to show some respect for the other three nations in our political union, all three with devolved powers, different laws and different outlooks. It is, unintentionally admittedly, somewhat dismissive to not show some understanding here. I would say, the Westminster politics and England based press really don't help here.

How is it all one country FFS?! Is mainland Europe one country because they have land borders?!

It's easy op, it's super quick. I would get a passport though regardless.

It’s Scotland…. One T

You don't need a passport but you do need government issued id drivers licence, military ID card, individual airlines vary so check their website. Your dc will need their birth certificate (full) plus a letter from his father stating is ok to travel without him, it should include a telephone number of where he will be at the time of travel - they may not check but better to be prepared (I was asked once!)

To the naysayers, I did need photo Id to fly to Inverness recently! I didn't have any kids with me so can't confirm whether they require them from personal experience. I also showed id to collect ferry tickets (calmac)

Mychitchatdays · 27/01/2022 15:18

You will need photo Id to fly. It's not required for under 16s.

AAAAAGHH · 27/01/2022 15:32

It's SCOTLAND ffs. Only one fucking T

CraftyGin · 27/01/2022 16:50

I've never needed photo ID flying between LHR and EDI. They just take your picture before you go into the secure area and match it up when you actually board.

Ioana97 · 28/01/2022 22:58

Scotland and England are two different countryes but since we are in Uk only ID is enough

@WotsitMum

Pre covid i would fly to scottland twice a year but havent been since covid and having a baby so i know its only a short flight. Its babys first flight, im worried about the taking off and landing, i know ill have plenty of family with me to help but its the restraing in the seat whilst taking off and landing, hes a fidgety baby that dosent like beeing held long!

Were flying with loganair, i will contact there customer service about what is needed for 'id' as such for little one as he has no photo id!

Were booking all flights together so hopefuly will be seated together, my mums offered to hold LO but he gets clingy to me in unknown places so i can see him trying to climb to me!

@WotsitMum you used to fly to Scotland twice a year, pre-COVID.... but you can't spell it?!
