Premier Inn - do you need to show ID to check in?

DD has booked a night and can’t find her provisional driving license. Doesn’t have a passport. Will they ask for ID when she’s checking in or could she bypass the issue by using the speedy check in option. Thanks

I’ve never been asked and stayed in them loads of times.

Seainasive · 17/01/2022 17:09

No they won’t ask her.

MrsWicket · 17/01/2022 17:10

Thanks. DD is 18 but is quite baby-faced - hence the question!

I got asked for id once and used my bank card to show who I was. However I am well over 18.

The receptionist said they needed proof of who I was.

MichaelGovesBeard · 17/01/2022 17:26

I’ve had to show id plenty of times. They should ask even if they don’t always. A bank card normally is ok though.

TyrannosaurusRegina · 17/01/2022 17:40

I've had to once before - they said it was due to the fact that it was a same day booking.

ShowOfHands · 17/01/2022 17:44

I've never been asked in years and years of using them. They ask for the booking reference and my surname but never ID.

SmartCar · 17/01/2022 17:49

If she's paying by cash she'll need I'd not if she's using card though

Warmhandscoldheart · 17/01/2022 17:50

I've only ever been asked for my name, no ID. I do always show the booking reference email as proof of identity.

Nonivknamesforcatapillars · 17/01/2022 18:24

I’ve never had to show ID. Even when I was young and baby faced (a few years ago now!). She should be fine. X

LemonLimelight · 17/01/2022 18:31

They don't always ask but it's in their terms and conditions that you must have photo ID with you and provide it if asked. I think they are less likely to ask if you've booked and paid already by debit card, and more likely if paying by cash.

saraclara · 17/01/2022 18:46

I've never been asked. But I've always booked and paid in advance. Don't know if that makes any difference?

MrsWicket · 17/01/2022 19:20

Thanks everyone. Paid for by debit card. She’ll have her bank card on her so hopefully that’ll be enough should they ask. X

hiya, does anyone know what type of ID premier inn take if they ask i’m 18 and my provisional isn’t here yet but i have just got a citizenship card. which if it’s sufficient enough to buy alcohol (depending on the place) it should be sufficient enough to show i’m 18 shouldn’t it? Also another quick question has anyone stayed at birmingham airport premier inn? if so do they have self checkin ? x

ShowOfHands · 15/03/2023 17:24

Acceptable forms of identification are: a passport, driving licence, ID card or police warrant card

ShowOfHands · 15/03/2023 17:27

And yes Google suggests you can self check in but it doesn't always work.

brogan18 · 15/03/2023 20:15

would a citizenship card class as an ID card? x

Becwatson1982 · 14/05/2023 10:57

I have never used a credit card to book, always debit card and I stay in PI at least once a month.

Why would they ask for ID from a child with their parent?
