Solo weekend away?

After a horrible breakup earlier this year which is still hard to deal with, stress of work and house sale etc and general life at the moment I could really do with a break, like everyone could I'm sure...

Just a couple of nights away on my own with the dogs to chill out and destress. Is that really sad to go on my own?! I'm thinking Airbnb in the countryside between Xmas and New Year with a hot tub and take long walks, a bottle of wine, good book and chill out in the evening...

Lake or Peak District? Sounds good.

itwasntaparty · 17/12/2021 19:45

Not sad at all, sounds bloody lovely. I'd just be worried things are booked up already.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 18/12/2021 20:19

Any good @lu8625?

Winterspangles · 18/12/2021 20:45

I would do this in a heartbeat. I'd probably choose Devon or Cornwall. Heavenly.

santaclothes · 18/12/2021 20:48

I go away on my own all the time! Definitely do it.

motheroflions · 18/12/2021 20:50

I have a friend who has just been to Mexico for a week by herself! She loved it.

Go for it OP

CityCommuter · 18/12/2021 20:57

It doesn't matter what people think as you have to do what's right for you... I think you should go away for a few days to relax, it will do you good... Your situation sounds like the romantic Christmas film The Holiday with Jude Law and Cameron Diaz! Besides you never know who you might meet on those walks with your dogs, they're a great conversation starter btw!

tangyandsalty · 18/12/2021 21:17

Sounds bloody marvellous. I'd love to do that. I'd probably go somewhere with a village pub nearby though, so I didn't have to cook !

DBI78 · 18/12/2021 21:51

Definitely sounds lovely xx

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 19/12/2021 13:38

I don't think the OP likes our suggestions, as she hasn't been back! Were you looking for specific links @lu8625?

lu8625 · 22/12/2021 19:39

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants ohh so sorry for such a late reply!! Love all your suggestions...

Tempted between either a little cottage near to Durdle Door or swish barn conversion near the Peak District set right on a lake...

Decisions, decisions!

Anything set next to a lake sounds fab. Are your dog keen on a swim? Xmas Grin

lu8625 · 23/12/2021 07:45

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants yes!! They absolutely love the water!

Depends on if you like drying them! Peak district might be slightly cheaper than the equivalent lakeside location in Lake District.
