Hello. Taking DDs aged 12 and 13 for a few days to Cardiff. We've booked in a hotel by the docks for 4 nights in November. Just wondering if anyone has some good suggestions as to what we can do? TIA

Treetop adventure golf has 2 indoor crazy golf courses.
Take the train to Barry Island Pleasure Park
Ice Arena Wales
Cardiff International Pool has some waterslides, a lazy river and a sauna, spa and steam room.
Hire bikes www.cardiffpedalpower.org/hire-bikes
Boat ride www.bayislandvoyages.co.uk

Plenty of castles around if they are into historical things (Cardiff Castle and Castell Coch to name but two). Also Roman ruins galore at Caerleon less than 30 mins away. St Fagans is fabulous!

What do they enjoy? Which weekend? Have you checked if it’s a rugby international weekend? It could be very busy if it is!
Plenty of shopping if that’s what they fancy,
National museum is in the middle of town, Techniquest is in the Bay.
Cardiff Castle is very central, Castell coch isn’t far up the Taff Trail.
Tour of the principality stadium if there’s not a match
Boat trip around the bay (speedboat if the weather is nice).
I think Barry Island Fair will be closed by November but Cardiff Winter Wonderland opens mid -November with a fair and open air skating.
You could take a train to Barry island if you want a nice beach.

Try the National Museum of Wales in St Fagans. It's an outdoor museum with lots of old historic houses. It's a great day out.

Worth having a look at what’s on in the millennium centre down the Bay when you’re there - Grease is on towards the end of November for example.

White water rafting! We did it in Feb 2020 before things got scary! It's open all year. It's in the bay so not too far. If you have a car try the zip wire up in Aberdare. You could probably get there without a car.

They’re electrifying the valleys train lines. It take forever to get anywhere at the moment.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Plenty for me to think about. We're there 31st-4th.

We've managed to book the zip wire at Aberdare so looking forward to that.

I second the cardiff international white water centre for the rafting, inflatable options or the high wire. There's loads of activities to choose from and all kit is provided. Great fun!

The Doctor Who museum is pretty good

HamSandwichKiller · 14/10/2021 22:42

If they like climbing or free running there's Boulders and Fluidity pretty much next to each other.

Not in Cardiff Bay but around 25 mins out. Spit and Sawdust is a fab skateboarding place in case yours are into that.

Book a boat trip while you're here. There are some fast boats that zoom about and more chill water taxis type boats too.

The Deck is a nice restaurant - across from the Bay. Worth a visit.

HamSandwichKiller · 14/10/2021 22:43

@GlowInThePark Doctor Who museum is closed sadly.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 14/10/2021 22:47

Or Rampworld in Llanishen if they’re into scooting / skating.

Royal Mint Experience out at llantrisant (about 30 minute drive).

Another vote for Barry. Not for the funfair but for the beach. Take a kite, a frisbee, whatever games you can carry and enjoy the huge beach, a walk on the headland, fish and chips and the amusements. A top day out.

ReviewingTheSituation · 14/10/2021 22:53

And a walk round the bay to Penarth.
