London recommendations for young adult

Looking to go to London at the end of this month (on a weekday) with my young adult son for his birthday. Looking for something a little bit different to do. Initially thought of Alcotraz but wasn't sure when I read that you have to take your own alcohol! Or something like Swingers? Something a little different where we can have a drink and maybe something to eat and and experience (or could do these separately).

The Alchemist bar in Covent Garden is fun if you don't have one locally where you live. Very theatrical cocktails that smoke and fizz. Not tried the food. There is also a branch in Canary wharf.

Thanks for replying. I've added some of these to the list. Any recommendations for anywhere to eat? I know there are loads of places but I'm a bit out of touch and would love some recommendations.

More info needed. What sort of things does he like? Do you have a particular area in mind? A budget?

There's a nice bar called Spiritland next door to Dishoom in King's Cross. Dishoom is nice, if you haven't been before. The bar has a slightly beardy muso vibe. I like it a lot.

I haven't been yet but am going to Gloria in Shoreditch soon. It's an Italian and sounds like it will be fun. Grace Dent reviewed it really positively.

If you're foodie, maybe a Michelin Star lunch? St John or Leroy both sound as if they're chilled/non stuffy, though I haven't been. Or Brat.

Experience wise: we'd need to know more about his interests.

If you fancy somewhere a bit flashy for food, DS told me that the Social Eating House (Jason Atherton Restaurant) does a lunchtime/very early evening 3-course menu for only £35 each and it's got lots of the flair of Pollen Street Social which is about 5 times more expensive!
