Looking for recommendations for a city/town to visit for 2 night. Me, DH and Dd 8. We love just wandering round exploring, nice quirky cafe/restaurants, shops, markets etc. DH loves shopping, I like shopping but especially independent shops and I love pretty aesthetics for photos. Bit of history always goes down well with DD too!

Not too worried about distance but we are in Somerset and have done Bristol, Bath etc several times.

As an example we used to live in Chester which was right up our street, our last city trip was York which we loved and we always have a brilliant time in London!

Love Nottingham for shoping.

You must have done Wells if you're in Somerset? I suggest this as I've just visited recently having never been before and it was so pretty. It basically looks like a Harry Potter film set (with lots of shops in the town). Massive history at the cathedral and Bishops Palace grounds.
