What are you interested in? What sort of food do you like?Smile

Bigtom · 07/09/2021 22:29

The Titanic museum is good and the Ulster museum too.

jellybeanteaparty · 07/09/2021 23:34

Toobigformyboots Enjoy all types of food - Irish pub perhaps with live music ?, some history, art deco architecture, art gallery or street Art, markets and charity shops second hand book shops, nice view over the water or somewhere nice to sit and people watch.

some history, art deco architecture, art gallery or street Art, markets and charity shops second hand book shops,

The area around Cathedral Quarter is full of this stuff as well as having quite a few restaurants. The Cloth Ear and Morning Star do good pub food. I dont know if they're performing indoors.

Kelly's Cellar is a great pub with plenty of outside space and right next door to the Mourne Seafood Bar who do light snacks as well as meals.

St George's Market is brilliant. As is the Ulster Museum in Botanic gardens. Again in an area full of cafes, restaurants and second hand shops.

All these things are in or within walking distance of the city centre, but an All Day bus ticket is only £4.20.

Don't be tempted by Afternoon Tea in the Merchant. People rave about it but it's not great.

emmathedilemma · 08/09/2021 13:10

The hop on/off bus tour was really interesting to see a bit further around the city.
Crumlin Road Gaol got good reviews from friends (I missed it due to a delayed flight!)
City Hall had some interesting exhibits in it.
Titanic experience is really good but I was titanic'd out by the end of it!! The ticket with the guided walking tour at the start was really good.
Stormont has nice grounds for a walk if you hop off the tour bus.
St George's market for a weekend breakfast soda.
There's taxi tours of the murals which are meant to be good.

girlmom21 · 08/09/2021 13:11

Do the open top bus tour! We did the Game Of Thrones tour too which was fab!

BingBongToTheMoon · 08/09/2021 13:18

Open top bus, best one we’ve been on.
If The Giants are at home, a trip to The Odyssey (SSE arena) is highly recommended.

hopeishere · 11/09/2021 22:09

There's a company called - I think - DC tours who do recent political history. Meant to be very good.

To eat: Coppi, Ox for lunch, Avoca cafe, Tedfords kitchen, Ginger, Barking Dog, CoCo.

The Lisburn Road has nice shops for walk. Get a taxi to The Crafty Vintner and walk from there.

romdowa · 11/09/2021 22:22

If you've an interest in history then the black taxi tour is well worth doing. My self and dp absolutely loved it.

Lesina · 12/09/2021 16:39

DC Tours, highly recommend them for their extensive knowledge of the history or the city and it’s recent past. Crumlin Road Goal is worth a visit. The area around Queens university and botanic is lovely. Lots of great restaurants to suit all budgets :) enjoy. Belfast is a fab city.

MadamMalkin · 12/09/2021 17:31

In the city centre, I like Keats and Chapman, the 2nd hand book shop in North Street, there's a lot of street art in this area too. For a drink (or soft drink) Whites Tavern, one of Belfast's oldest pubs, or somewhere in the the Cathedral Quarter. For people watching, City Hall, Royal Avenue and Fountain Street. For a view over the water, you could check out the Waterfront Hall, big fish, and the Lagan weir bridge or the Titanic Quarter.

MadamMalkin · 12/09/2021 17:35

And yes the area around Queens and Botonic is lovely, and the Ulster Museum is there. The Lisburn Road has lots of bars and restaurants.

jellybeanteaparty · 12/09/2021 17:49

Have a brilliant time @jellybeanteaparty and don't forget your raincoat.Grin

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 19/09/2021 16:52

The Crown Liquor Saloon bar is worth a visit for its history and ornate decor.

Welshmaenad · 20/09/2021 21:02

Open top bus, titanic museum, Guineas and an Irish stew at the Crown, botanic gardens and Queens university fur a nice walk.

Iflyaway · 20/09/2021 21:11

Second the Crown, opposite the Opera place, grand building too, and the "most bombed hotel" ever.

Opposite the bus station that will take you all over N.I.

City Hall.

Cave Hill. Belfast Castle.

Grew up there, went to school there, been so long ago...

Buggerthebotox · 20/09/2021 21:17

Loved Belfast. I'd recommend Titanic and Crumlin Road Gaol. The open top bus tour was also good for seeing some of the murals and West Belfast.
Meant to do Giant's Causeway but ended up in Derry/Londonderry instead. Train ride was cheap as chips. Another fascinating city, by the way.

Notafootballfan · 20/09/2021 21:41

The Duke of York in the Cathedral Quarter. Lots of nice restaurants here too. visitbelfast.com/partners/duke-of-york/

A cocktail in The Observatory at the top of The Grand Central Hotel with views over the city.
Wee toast tours, with a bit of craic, although you may have to book.

Go up to the Dome in The Victoria Centre for panoramic views across the city.
A walk along the Waterfront towards the Titanic building.

Queens University and Botanic Gardens.

I'm a local and have done the open top bus tour and enjoyed it. A good way to see the city and if there's something you fancy looking at you can get off.

Enjoy OP.

jellybeanteaparty · 23/09/2021 20:49

Had a fantastic time and didn't even need a raincoat! We did the open top bus, lunch in the crown saloon ( great booths for social distancing) the botanical gardens and queen's university - we dropped DC at the university after a trip to IKEA so stayed near here. The cathedral quarter ( great coffee in estd) found the Duke of York pub and clocked a lot of places to return too. Thanks for all the suggestions. For a city break would recommend 5*
