Hi all, I’m heading to London for a week in October. Our Florida trip got cancelled so we’ve decided to go do a touristy week instead. I want to book somewhere for a nice dinner one night that’s borderline fancy - not the ritz level but not a chain Italian Grin somewhere in the middle! I have no idea where to start looking. I’d love any recommendations for somewhere to go.
We are staying near Westminster.

Ideally I’d love a really good creme brûlée!

@LondonKitKat

Bob Bob Ricard in soho do a great creme brûlée. Plus press for champagne buttons!
This is the one I came here to post!

Another vote for Scully's. Out of the ordinary food, and a lovely warm vibe with great service.

@whataboutbob

Garfunkels. Are you joking 😱. Londoner here and I would never ever darken Garfunkel’s threshold. Not in my wildest dreams. It’s the ultimate clueless tourist feeding station .
I think they’ve closed! I actually did look them up as remembered eating there as a child and it kept redirecting me to Frankie and Bennys 🤮

Well this is MN, everyone is on at least six figures.

Garfunkel's it is then.

I also vote brassiere Zedels. See if they've a show on at crazy couqs and also go to their American bar for cocktail before dinner. Perfect evening

Are you with children OP? Some of the recommendations on this thread might not be entirely suitable for younger children as have a more formal/ sophisticated atmosphere

I'd echo the recommendation of brasserie zedel. Also suitable for children as it's quite loud. It's in a great location for touristy stuff

Also lovely are

Oxo tower
The Ivy (original or granary square)
Quaglinos
Joe Allen's for after theatre meal (I don't love the food but it's full of celebs)

Yes oxo Tower restaurant is really nice - DS loves the pork belly starter there. If you are going with young kids they do have a more simple kids menu.

No kids 😊 certainly not on 6 figures (I wish haha) but splashing out as was supposed to be in the US

The Duck & Waffle is a fantastic experience if you time your dinner for sunset - it’s on the 41st floor which you arrive at dramatically in an external glass lift - there is also a stunning outdoor terrace with fire pit / sofas / cocktail bar and millions of twinkly orange fairy lights - spectacular views over the city.
