Glasgow in October

Going to Glasgow for a few days in October - any recommendations? We are in a nice hotel with a spa so that’s our evenings most days. We went to Edinburgh last year and have been to the Highlands so we’re not too bothered about longer day trips from the city (unless anyone can think of anything I haven’t already through of!).

Anywhere really spectacular to eat/drink/see in Glasgow that we really shouldn’t miss? We just love being in new places and pottering about really. I love to look at stuff!

If you like looking at stuff, how about the museums?

Kelvingrove Galleries and museum, I love that place. The Tenement lets you see how people lived long ago, it's interesting. Check if you need to pre book though.

The Tenement is open Fri- Sun only for pre booked appointments. I would check the Kelvingrove Gallery website to see if you need to book.

Lots of great places to eat in Finnieston like Ox and Finch, Alchemilla, Gloriosa, The Gannet, Crabshakk, and more. You could spend the whole day just eating and drinking in Finnieston tbh

I was coming on to say the Kelvingrove.

If you post on the Scotsnet board you'll get some more replies.

For food I'd recommend The Spanish Butcher (as long as you're not veggie!). There's then plenty of nice bars in the merchant city for drinks before/after.

Kelvingrove for the art gallery, depending on when you're coming GlasGlo might also be on although more of an evening activity and you said you had them covered.

Tasting menu with wine pairing at Cail Bruich. It's got a bit pricier since they got their Michelin Star but it was very well deserved.

lucky you - we had a great few days their at the beginning of the month.
Unfortunately the Burrell Collection is still closed, otherwise I'd recommend that.
We enjoyed the Kelvingrove very much, and also a trip out to Helensburgh to see the wonderful Mackintosh-designed Hill House.
Wandering around looking at the wonderful Victorian architecture was fun, and we did a great guided tour, run by the tourist office, to acclimate ourselves.
Spitfire does great breakfasts
We did take 2 nights out staying in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute, which was a real contrast, but we were also tempted to take a trip to Dundee to check out the V and A
Have fun!

Although I lived in Glasgow for 37 years I never visited the Necropolis which is near Glasgow Cathedral - also worth seeing. It's a Victorian City of the Dead which I will be visiting on my next trip. Not everyone's cup of tea maybe but apparently some amazing sculptures and memorials.
