Hi,

We would like to spend three or four nights in the Cotswolds in October and we’ve never been. What are the prettiest villages, with things to do nearby for children?

Oh yes, as pp says, National Trust car park at Sherbourne, then circular sculpture walk - there are some woodland playground features scattered around as well, plus a little shop that does food in the village (only caveat is that it is very much a dog walking route in case that bothers you - if so a paid-for place like Westonbird (dog and non-dog areas) or aforementioned Batsford would be lovely with their autumn colours).

We only visited Castle Combe, lovely but small and Bourton on the Water. Wow, I absolutely loved everything about it. It was rammed with people, but the little shops, cafes, stream, scenery and general vibe were fantastic.
I just wish we had more time to see more of the little villages mentioned.

I also don't think there's much to do in the Cotswolds. The villages are very pretty but the scenery is really meh (not sure why it's an AONB, tbh) so the walks are very average.

@BelgianWaffles

Which village(s) are the prettiest in your opinion?
Bibury is beautiful. That's where the Arlington row houses are and it's got a very easy relaxing circular walk around which is beautiful.
