Best way to see London sights

We are planning a weekend in London to celebrate a birthday, never been before and would like to see the sights and visit the science museum. Looking into it all is a bit overwhelming and I'm worried about getting ripped off booking a tour we couldn't planned ourselves.

Any recommendations please?

Head up to Greenwich and have lunch there and visit the park / meridian line.

Greenwich Market is well worth a browse & there's often a street food market by the Cutty Sark at weekends.

You might like Band of Burgers if you're going to Camden. If you visit Greenwich the pie and mash shop is really good food, cheap noodle restaurants too. Or go to Mark's and get sandwiches and sit in the Park.

The original Hard Rock Cafe near Hyde Park Corner is a good place to get a burger. Patty and Bun and Honest Burgers are both good.
Hawksmoor is the best place for steak. They do a good burger too. There are a few of them including Borough Market and Covent Garden. They can be extremely spendy but they do very good value lunch and early evening deals.

Borough Market is fairly nearby and great for a big variety of street food. We like to go to Fortnum and Masons foodhall to get a picnic to eat in St James park.
