London West end shows and covid tests

Hello

We are in London and hoping to get a last minute ticket to see a show.

I've noticed some theatres are asking for negative covid tests before going in. How does this work?

Any info appreciated... we don't have any LF tests with us so not sure if we can do this!

Thanks.

I think it’s just the Andrew Lloyd Webber ones that are (Joseph/Cinderella)

Been to Prince of Egypt and Six recently and neither did

Recommend Prince of Egypt there are good ticket deals for it on Todaytix and that doesn’t need LFT

PeppermintMocha · 20/08/2021 19:44

You can get a packet of LFTs in most pharmacies - just ask for them and they're free (presuming the NHS ones are valid for 'leisure' things like this - I know they're not for travel purposes)

Newgirls · 20/08/2021 19:46

We went last week and if double vaccinated that counts too so no test needed. Perhaps check if that’s ok for your show?

We showed our letters on way in and it was very quick. No mask when sitting down which was nice

wannabeamummysobad · 20/08/2021 19:47

@walkingonthemoon we are going to see the lion king tomorrow so had to take LFTs. Ours came back negative but the flaw in the system is you don't have to provide evidence of the negative when inputting your results into the gov website 🤷🏾‍♀️

AlexandraQueen · 20/08/2021 19:57

We were asked to do LTF but no one at the theatre actually checked.

AlwaysOneMissing · 20/08/2021 20:06

We are booked to see Lion King too, but it says you can either show proof of double vaccination or a negative test.

walkingonthemoon · 20/08/2021 22:32

Thanks that is all helpful. Husband and I are both double vaccinated but our 14 and 17 year old have not as it's not available for them yet.

How does that play out?

We have been to west end and local theatres a few times in the last few weeks. Two didn't require any proof etc but the lion king did and they were checked before going in either double vaccinated or LFT. Only for adults though not under 18's. Entry was really quick though.

Smartiepants79 · 20/08/2021 22:53

We saw Joseph a couple of weeks ago and no one was interested in either my vaccination status or any tests.
I think it was actually the theatre operators that made the decision. I think the ATG theatres who were asking for proof before entry.

Pinkflipflop85 · 20/08/2021 23:02

Been to the theatre 3 times this month. All emailed in advance to say we had to show vaccine status or negative test.

None of them even asked when we actually went!

MumofSpud · 20/08/2021 23:12

Last week at 'The Windsors' we showed that we were double jabbed (the domestic pass on the App).
Next week will be at Cinderella with DD (15) so will take a (hopefully!) negative LFT with us and ID to show she is under 16.

myrtilles · 20/08/2021 23:28

We had our vaccine certificates checked at both shows we have been to this week. The theatre emailed us in advance to advise us of the rules.

Malteser71 · 21/08/2021 18:57

I also saw the windsors this week, had to prove I was double jabbed.

Pretty sure this info was only emailed to me a few days before the show - we were away on holiday without our covid vaccination cards. Luckily we both had our nhs record online.

Dancingbea · 21/08/2021 19:05

Have been to six and Cinderella in last 2 weeks. Neither asked for it or requested it in advance.

wannabeamummysobad · 21/08/2021 19:39

We are currently at the lion king and they did check for covid negative /double jabbed status.

Inside, there is no social distancing or masks

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 21/08/2021 19:43

I saw Prince of Egypt last week and Anything Goes this week with 15 year old DD neither asked about vaccine status.

Moonlaserbearwolf · 21/08/2021 19:46

Under 18s definitely don’t need to do anything. As you’re double jabbed, you may be asked to show your vaccine passport on the NHS app (but from the responses above it sounds like they don’t always ask). I’d be prepared with the app just in case they ask.

AlwaysOneMissing · 21/08/2021 22:36

Under 18s have to verbally confirm (or their parents) that they have no symptoms.

ExtremelyDisorganised · 21/08/2021 22:38

Les Mis concert - I had to show proof of double jab or negative LFT, DD (under 18) did not.

You can get free LF tests all over London if you need them. Any pharmacy of health centre has them and there are normally people handing them out in busy areas around Soho etc.

Phantom1 · 21/08/2021 23:20

How do you prove that you have had a double-jab?

MumofSpud · 21/08/2021 23:29

@Phantom1

How do you prove that you have had a double-jab?
On the App where it shows your vaccinations details, you can get a 'domestic pass' (lasts a month)
TheFlis12345 · 21/08/2021 23:29

@Phantom1

How do you prove that you have had a double-jab?
Download and register on the NHS app.
Sadiecow · 22/08/2021 07:03

Went to Cinderella and nothing asked.
