Hi all

Recently visited margate for the beach and little shops, read about hythe and deal being very nice, has anyone been? We have a 6 month old little boy and want to do a few cute days out, could I visit both in one day? We drive, I am after lovely quaint streets with shops cafe's etc is there any main attractions in each town to see? Which one do you prefer? Just incase we cant visit both in one day

Thank you x

Hythe is quieter, shingle beach with long promenade and large green open spaces just off the seafront with canal and boats to hire. High Street is not extensive. Romney Hythe and Dymchurch steam railway, Port Lympne wildlife park, Dover castle all nearby. Deal seem a bit rundown in comparison if more traditional seaside but Walmer Castle is close and has pretty grounds.

Have you been to Sandwich, which is very quaint. It's not on the coast but you could go to Deal afterwards.

Deal/walmer has a paddling pool, pier (with a cafe) and a small amusements arcade. Deal castle (as well as walmer) is probably worth a visit if you've got English heritage membership but only Walmer if you don't as it adds (Dover is also EH) . High Street probably slightly more interesting than hythe and closer to beach. Hythe does have the mini railway. Both have stony beaches but Dymchurch beach is sandy and not far from Hythe (check tide times though). Not sure Deal is more run down than Hythe but Hythe is maybe quainter. You'd probably struggle to do both in a day
