Has anyone done a P&O staycation cruise?

Me and DH are going on about 4 day UK cruise on the P&O Brittania. This will be a totally new experience for us and I'm actually quite excited (and worried about feeling seasick). Has anyone been on one of these?

Yes! I went on 4th July and loved it!! Everything was being constantly cleaned and they're very keen on hand sanitisation and masks everywhere. With the new queueing system it was much easier to get a table. Pools were all open but not the spa. Social distancing was enforced.

Overall it was lovely to be back on board and a fabulous short break.

Is there anything specific you want to know?

Thanks for replying. Whhat's the day to day dress code on board? Do people get dressed up in the evenings? Just struggling to know what to pack?!

@RhubarbCrumbled, also wanted to ask, did you enjoy the food on board? Any recommendations? Thanks again.

Day to day dress code is casual. Evenings are a bit smarter. If you want to eat in any restaurants on the gala evening then you need to 'dress up'. I wore a normal dress and sandals and passed muster! Men have to wear jackets Grin. Some people dress up every night or go incredibly glam but it's not compulsory. Which makes me happy!!

I definitely enjoy the food on board! Main restaurant (free) tends to be mostly British but with some interesting dishes. Epicurean is the 'posh' place which is worth the extra charge. They usually do a half price on the first night. The buffet is a buffet - good salads and breakfast. The Glass House is also nice for a not posh but nicely different evening.

First thing I do on board a new ship is walk it from top to bottom, front to back and see everything. That way you get an idea of how to get about and know the places you'd like to go for a coffee / quiet read / party.

Let me know if there's anything else!

@RhubarbCrumbled, really helpful, thank you! I'll no doubt have more questions the nearer we get to departure. Thanks again!

Lucky you! I'm itching to get back onboard a cruise!!

Agree with the advice of walking the ship top to bottom as it gives you the idea to know how long it takes to get from cabin to restaurant for dinner reservation etc.

I found Britannia to have a slightly confusing layout than other ships I have been on. Normally you can walk one end to the other and get to where you need to be, but for the main restaurant, we had to walk along one deck, come up a flight of stairs, walk along then come back down to get to where we needed to be. Also lack of central lifts too so found them to be quite busy at times, so factor that in too, but to be fair, just thinking now, it will be a LOT quieter with the current capacities!

Anyway, have a blast! I'm not jealous at all..... lol! Xx

@ReginaaPhalange, thanks! I'm starting to look forward to it more now!
