Can anyone recommend things to do & places to eat in this area please?
We’ll be visiting the villages along the coast but would appreciate other suggestions!

Is it worth popping over to Dundee while we’re in the area?

Are any of the golf courses good for amateur “pay & play” visitors/pitch & putt?

Any nice coast walks/other walks?
Kids are 10/11

The Fife coastal path is beautiful for walking, especially St Andrews to Crail/Anstruther. There's a hotel/hostel which used to be a library in Anstruther. Really reasonable and lovely.

Dundee has really improved in recent years and now has the V and A. Forth bridges which you cross to get there are so beautiful. They always take my breath away.

There used to be a lovely little pottery in Crail. I hope it's still there. I love it.

In St Andrews the beaches are phenomenal as are parts of the university (especially along the scores.)

The Scottish Deer Centre is a nice day out. Buy some deer food at the entrance and your children can have a go at feeding these beautiful animals as you walk around which is a great experience. You can also see the predators in a section at the end of the park and there is a tree-top walk where you can find out all about red squirrels.
Cairnie Fruit Farm is worth going to. It’s got a great farm shop where you can buy some nice bits for self catering, or to take back home. I’d probably visit early on as you can pick your own fruit for picnics! Definitely eat in the tearoom there too, and it’s got a massive maze and trampolines for the dc!
If it rains, I’d recommend the Deep Sea World Aquarium. It’s got a very long tunnel, a large collection of sharks and some other exciting animals like seals and sting rays.
Pittenweem Chocolate Company serves up amazing food including soups using cocoa powder, hot paninis and some fantastic cake. Don’t miss the opportunity to have a hot chocolate too – I can heartily recommend the hazelnut version which is so good.

For golf you can put on the ‘Himalayas’, unless keen golfers with handicaps then I wouldn’t recommend booking any of the links courses, here is the link for putting;

The village of Falkland is v pretty with a lovely cafe in the village centre you can also visit Falkland Palace.

Scone Palace.

Great, thanks everyone!

We have NT membership so might check out Falkland palace.

Deer centre sounds good

Just looked up the Himalayas & their website says they’re still not renting out any equipment so will take some clubs with us.

Yes I think we’ll walk from Crail to Anstruther or vice versa, then get the bus on the return leg.

Lovely part of the country OP. Have family on the other side of the Tay.

The coastal villages are lovely. Anstruther fish bar is a must and it also has a 9 hole golf course right on the water. Stunning views. You can also book a sailing across to the isle of May from Anstruther too which is a good trip out. Other villages that are lovely include Crail, Pittenweem and Elie.

St Andrews itself is lovely to wander around. Beach is great and things you can do such as the aquarium.

Towards Dundee I really like tentsmuir forest for walks. The forest leads out to the beach and you can spot seals often.

Across the Tay, Dundee has a fair bit to offer. V&A, the RRS Discovery. Also the McManus Galleries and there’s a science centre/museum too.

Nice beaches out of Dundee too - Broughty Ferry, Monifeith, Carnoustie.

Have a great trip.

Another thought re golf. If you’re not regular golfers this place may suit.

The Himalayas are great fun but you have to go to Fisher Donaldson for a fudge doughnut after or Jeanettas for an ice cream 😃
