Does this type of break exist?

Nearest I can get is a Spa Break but both DH and I are not really into "pampering" though feel we may be way out of touch anyway!

Ideally what we are looking for is one/two nights away where we can:

Unwind
Read/sleep- repeat
Drink a bit
Eat good food
Be near a city centre (ideally in North West)
Have a lot of one-to-one massages to relax - back, shoulders, feet etc

Not interested in couples treatment, nails, hair etc...

Just want a relaxing time where don't have to worry about what we look like or whether we have a free robe etc

Have done spa stuff when younger so absolutely know that it is great too but just want something that is perhaps geared to "old farts" who are not high maintenance but could really benefit from a stress busting weekend and happily lie around with messy eyebrows, beer bellies and no interest in other folks!

Isn't what you've described a spa break? They all have choices of treatments so it doesn't have to be beauty treatments - you can get back massages, pedicures, Indian head massage etc.

I'd probably avoid the weekends in case of hen parties.

Have you looked at Warner leisure? My parents have been to their hotels before and a quick look at the website tells me they do offer saunas/steam rooms etc. Might be worth clicking on there and checking the different locations and what they offer.

Why not just book an apartment in a city centre, get a delivery from a posh restaurant and get someone to come and do massages?

Bath break?

Cattailkitty · 22/07/2021 23:56

Thanks all - "old farts" was a bit off the mark (hence inverted commas) but you are right. I need to try them as they may have changed - I hate saunas, pools, spas, manicures and the like but just want to be indulged! A weekend at home with masseur may be best option (be careful what I Google!) - and I hate baths too ;)

The Scarlett hotel is amazing for relaxation & food. But Cornwall

Celtic Manor outside Newport sounds exactly the sort of thing you want (I wouldn’t recommend Newport but it’s only half an hour from Cardiff and within reach of Bristol). But a long way from you.

Oddfellows on the park or Oddfellows Chester

Cattailkitty · 23/07/2021 21:40

Thanks guys - even though a bit too far re Newport and Cornwall will check out for future UK-wide visits when feasible. Off to Google Oddfellows Chester (suitably intrigued)

What about Liverpool? It can be busy but also has boutique type hotels and some spas, the roof top bars are great for chilling as are some of the many parks. Loads of good food places with Bold Street in the centre and Lark lane just out of the city
