Brockhole has lots of activities like a treetop trek, archery, mini golf, bike hire etc…. as well has the house and gardens, exhibitions, walking trails, cafe and gift shop. Definitely worth a visit.
Old steam trains run between Haverthwaite Village, Newby Bridge and Lakeside Pier where there’s a restaurant with amazing views and an aquarium.
Grizedale Forest is lovely for walking and has a sculpture trail, Go Ape, segways and bike hire.

Whinlatter Forest is better then grizedale in my opinion. They mountain bike trails are much better.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 13/07/2021 05:39

@garlictwist I agree but it would take at least an hour from Witherslack.

Via farrata at honester slate mine is amazing it's just past Keswick .
Morecambe sea front beach is lovely .
Pine lake at Carnforth used to do paddle boarding and kayaking but check years since I've been .
Kendal has indoor climbing wall .
Williamson park at lancaster nothing there just a park . But you could have a walk round lancaster city centre old castle and priory church then picnic in park .

If you like walking then Whitbarrow Scar is nice, you can walk from Withetslack and the views are amazing.

Also, Halecat garden centre in Witherslack is a bit quirky.

Gummers How just up the road is a nice walk. So is High Dam, you can swim here.

You’re close to Grange over Sands which is pretty and has indie shops and cafes. Cartmel is also nice for this.

Get out on the water- hire kayaks or paddleboards.

Bring waterproofs. Its a lovely part of the world, but every time I've been it pissed down! I would love to see it on a sunny day, it must be glorious, but alas, it wasn't to be. I seem to remember resorting to a Pencil museum one very wet day, and there was a motor museum in a stately home, but I think its closed now.
