Alton Towers Waterpark or Waterworld Stoke

Looking for a waterpark that DS 9 would enjoy. He loves the water and once he finds a slide he likes he'll happily spend hours playing. He's sometimes needs encouragement to try new things, so is likely to be anxious about dark/enclosed slides or sudden loud noises.

He's loved the pools at Butlins / Centre Parcs. Our holiday this year doesn't include a pool and we'll be near Staffordshire. Which would be better? I'm drawn towards the Alton Towers one, but the family slide at Waterworld where you can slide alongside family members looks good.

Your feedback would be much appreciated!

Disclaimer: I haven't been to Waw in about 25 years (old!!) 😳 but last went to Splash Landings (AT) about 4 years ago. Locally I'd say the Alton Towers one is considered "nicer" but I think WW has been done up in recent years. It's certainly expensive enough now to make you think it should have been - £19 pp I think!

I don't know how much Splash Landings is but I seem to remember you also have to pay for parking there so it's worth factoring that in.

Thanks, that's useful to know. I did wonder if Waterworld would be a bit in need of an update due to the age of it.

At AT there are 2 main sides and the master blaster.

The master blaster always has a long queue, between 20 and 40 minutes depending on how busy it is.

The other two, one is fast and and other dark but it has disco lights. You go down in rings so have to collect these at the bottom and carry them up.

The only decent slides you can do without a ring/queue are outside but if you get the weather they are lots of fun.

It's a very clean place but fairly small. No waves section in the pool either.

We are off to AT next month and have pre-booked the swimming, it was £58 for 2 adults and 2 kids.

A lot of the fun at AT is the climbing structure thing with various bits where you can shoot/tip water out on those below you and the big tipping bucket thing you can stand under and get soaked so if he would like that as well as just slides I would say AT
