Places to go with teenagers

Where would you recommend for days out or weekend breaks in the UK with older teenagers (17 year olds) over summer?
I'm looking for places with plenty to do and accommodation nearby. It doesn't matter where in the UK is.
Any recommendations welcome. Thanks

Near Coventry. You’d have Drayton Manor, Cadbury World, Warwick Castle and the Leicester Space Centre and the Triumph Factory visitor experience all within easy day-trip distance.

they sound like good ideas. Anyone else? Bookmarking this thread for my own use too OP

What sort of things are they interested in? Museums, galleries, shops, outdoor activities, theme parks, beaches.....??
If they're 17 get them to do some research!

In South Wales. Would recommend Fonmon Castle near Cardiff Airport . Dinosaurs, medieval grange, a story/fairy trail, mad hatters tea party, walled garden. Adventure playground, pirates, oh and a castle!

Depends what they are interested in.

We had a great time in the Highlands with older teens - bagging Munros, went kayaking, hiking.

Same in the Lakes - lots of hiking, water sports, bagging Wainwrights etc.

Bristol is good for doing a Banksy trail and other really good artistic graffiti, riding the river bus, independent shops, museums etc.

London is always good for shopping, people watching, quirky or cool museums, good street food and street entertainers, gigs and good tourist activities like riding the cable car, climbing the O2, Clipper boat, DLR etc.

Liverpool - docks, beaches not far away, town for shopping/cinema. Can do day trip to Chester Zoo.

Wakes is great. Stay around the outskirts of Cardiff. You can visit Cardiff, Cardiff Castle, techniquest, Fonmon Castle Dino woods, Barry island beach and Cardiff bay all in one visit

Another vote for Liverpool, its an hour from North Wales with loads of outdoor stuff going on and good beaches.
Liverpool has an excellent water sports centre in the dock area

Loads going on in general, its a very compact city so easy to walk around and a good base for other areas.

Norfolk - Norwich for shops and restaurants, lovely beaches (Southwold is actually Suffolk but on the border and is beautiful with lots of small, old independent shops), llama trekking is quite popular at the moment and fun for teens (google llama trekking Norfolk and a few places should come up!) Then you have loads of the touristy type places which are still fun for any age - Banham zoo, Africa Alice, Gressenhall workhouse museum (love this, so interesting) and so on.

London

Zip wire over O2
London duck tours
Harrods
Museums
Carnaby street /Oxford street / Camden Town
London Eye

Apparently London is quieter than normal due to lack of foreign tourists.

London with teens

Covent Garden
Musicals/theatre

DonLewis · 30/06/2021 07:24

What are they into? Shopping? Rollercoasters? Fine art? The Romans? Windsurfing? Abseiling? Music? Food? Markets?

WhatsErFace2020 · 30/06/2021 18:25

Forest Holidays is great for older teens, nice cabins and hot tubs. The one near Ross-on-Wye Is particularly good as you can hire bikes locally for a trail and canoe/kayak around the river.

The Bear Grylls adventure in Birmingham is actually loads of fun, variety of options to choose from depending how active you/they are www.beargryllsadventure.com/

Another vote for Liverpool also, the white water rafting Place mentioned up thread is a LOT of fun and also an afternoon trip to the Cavern Club would top your day off!!

Activities wise, if you have an escape rooms near you they’d be a good age (and is great for family bonding)
