London Dungeon - is it actually scary?

We're having a few days in London in August and wondering whether to book London Dungeon. I have a fairly easily scared 9 year old so I'm not sure if we'll enjoy it. Has anyone been with a similar age child that can advise how they found it please?

Totally agree with @walkoflifewoohoo about the sea life centre , it’s excellent although I should imagine it’s not so good if it’s very busy . I also think it’s good to have a full agenda on any city break , it’s much better to skip something on the day than be dragging about trying to fill time especially as most young children aren’t particularly entertained by architecture and shops .

I'm not at all worried about it being too busy. DS has done a few city breaks with us overseas and enjoys the pace, he's a kid that likes to be out doing things. I've not booked Sea Life as we've already done the Birmingham and Manchester ones this year, and with so many other things in London to choose from I don't want to repeat something I've already done. Totally understand the feedback about Madame Tussauds and don't envisage spending hours there but I know DS will enjoy a wander around. Same with Tate Modern, it wouldn't be something he'd choose butbits also a break for me and DP so we need to balance the days out with the odd thing we want to see too, I don't see anything wrong in that at all tbh!

Also definitely doing the HoHo bus we love them wherever we go! If the Sealife Centre is really good we could always go before we get the train home.

@Mountaingoatling

As an adult I lasted 60 seconds before leaving (no refund). It is disturbing. Think serial killers, serial rapists and torture and capital punishment all souped up for maximum entertainment.
Did you not read about it before booking? I think it's pretty obvious what sort of topics it contains Hmm

The Tate modern is absolutely worth a look and it’s also right next door to The Globe theatre which is worth seeing .

We took our daughters last yr and had to leave with our 10 yr old as she was terrified! I was seriously disappointed as it was so good though!! The staff were fabulous and took us to the cafe to wait for the rest of or family. Loved it!
