Things to do in Jersey

I have given up on our foreign summer holiday (which was rolled over from last year) and have spent the last two days miserably trawling the net for options and finally booked a week in a lovely self catering cottage in Jersey (fluke cancellation).
I'm nervous on lots of grounds.....
Should we fly or ferry?
Will it be ridiculously busy for a small island?
Do I need to book a hire car as they are pricey?
Or do you think we could survive on taxis and I've heard electric bikes can be hired?
Can anyone recommend activities, restaurants, places to go etc?
We have two children aged 10 and 12 who live to surf!
(Please tell me I haven't made a big mistake booking this.......)

First choice groceries also deliver or you can collect if you would rather that ( both give hourly slot options) I think I may have a discount code il have a look. Orderit.je are really good too and You can choose time slot on that as well.

Food.je is the equivalent of just eat. Honestly basically everywhere is fine to eat in jersey if you eat out/get delivery. Many many lovely places.

So glad you can come over r.e the double vaccine you’ll all have a great time!! Fingers crossed the weather is nice for you all. Also not sure if kids will be too old but there is the Amazin adventure farm you can have a look at for them. Deffo St Ouens for the surfing and have brunch at le braye while you are there!

Oh I can’t find it 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’m sure was something like summer21 or june21 for £10 off £60.

Just to warn you that the selection of goods for delivery (lower) and prices (higher) may come as a surprise for UK residents. Jersey levies 5% sales tax on everything, including all food, and often you pay even more of a premium on goods because of the cost of import. The range available in the supermarkets is also much smaller than the average UK supermarket, and it's not all offered on the delivery sites.

If OP lives anywhere near Bristol airport it is worth checking out flight prices. A week ago Easyjet announced that they were going to start flying this route in July (I think it was 3 times/week). There were plenty of flights for under £50 (much less if you just had carry on).

Annoyingly my county is going "red" next week (thank you students!) so we'll probably end up arriving with some food for day 1 in case our test results don't come back that day. Alternatively one of us might do a pre-test and "hunt and gather" for the rest of us.

Thought I'd feedback after an ABSOLUTELY amazing week. Jersey is clearly a very closely guarded secret. Swab (free) on arrival was easy and results were through within 4 hours. It's been a joy not to wear a mask all week.
Our accommodation (self catering cottage) has been second to none. And we have previously stayed in a lot of the laces in Cornwall, Devon and Pembrokeshire.
The beaches have been deserted and the weather has been lovely.
We have eaten so well and had delicious seafood.
We have been to Le Braye, El Tico, The Crab Shack and The Salty Dog- all very good.
We have had surf lessons, SUP rental and the kids have body boarded dawn to dusk. Sunsets were amazing.
We had one day of slight drizzle so went to the War Tunnels which was very interesting.
We will be back- that's for sure. Cornwall who needs you

Went to Jersey with OH (no kids) and we really enjoyed it. We were a bit worried getting on the plane as everyone else was 300 years old and we thought it might be a bit like a retirement place but we had a great time. It was also super hot which helped.

The beaches are lovely. We really enjoyed the war tunnel museum and we hired bikes and did lots of cycling.
