Flying to Jersey with a 4 year old - passport?

Hi,

Just booked a holiday to Jersey with our 4 year old little boy.

Does he need a passport? I'm seeing a lot of conflicting advice and I'd like to hear from anybody who's done it lately, or relatively lately.

Thanks in advance.

Yes. He will need some form of ID to get on the flight and passport is the only thing available to that age.

In theory, if you are travelling from the UK none of you need a passport. However, if you are flying, the airline might require one for identification.

No he won’t. I travel to/from jersey regularly. I tend to leave my passport at home at use my drivers license as if you’re flying from the uk, it’s classed as a domestic flight so you only need photo ID for over 16’s. I was there last month and travelled with my 14 year old and he did not take his passport, nor was he asked for any id.

I have had the same experience when travelling by ferry too.
