How about a Warner hotel break? My Parents used to take my Grandparents they loved it they have mobility scooter hire and lots of activities.

Another one to suggest Warners!

Hire a cottage perhaps. I have mobility issues and have hired really good accessible accommodation in the past. Whilst I agree with posters that Warner’s have a good offering generally for older people as your relation has just lost her DH, not sure if a break with lots of elderly couples may be a little insensitive.

Cringletie House in Scotland has a ground floor room with automatic doors and remote-controlled lights, bed lift, roll-in shower and bathroom grab bars. The Hotel offers in-room spa treatments, flat grounds and a ramp at the entrance.
The Runnymede in Surrey was also good. Hallways were wide, the bathrooms were large and had grab bars, and there was even an alarm system in each room. There are accessible toilets in the common areas and all the restaurants were accessible. It was easy to get around the hotel grounds and even take a quiet roll down by the river with the ramps in place
