Devon and the sw

Does anyone have any recommendations of places to stay in Devon? General areas or specific cottages ect? Kids 8 and 15. Ive looked at Paignton, Brixham and they look nice but maybe too busy.
We liked Dorset and the Jurassic coast a lot, stayed in a lovely cottage and just went to charmouth, Lyme Regis and generally explored during the days.
I like nature and lovely views, beaches and nice cafes, little towns to explore too. I live in london so like to escape the madness.
We didn’t particularly ‘do’ anything in Dorset in terms of activities and was fine but it’d also be nice to find somewhere that has some things to do or little days out for the kids.
Id like a cottage or Airbnb but I’m open to holiday parks too as entertainment in the evening and swimming pools are a bonus. But tbh I’m still deciding if id rather just have something quieter than a holiday park. I love both types of holidays just not sure what I fancy.
Budget is probably about £600 for 4 nights and id need school holidays so probably not easy although I’ve found a few possibilities.

Oh also, do you think Wales would be risky in terms of going from England to Wales? I’ve seen some nice places but worried restrictions might not make it possible.

The South Hams, Dartmouth, Hope Cove, Start Bay.
Lots of cottages between Kingsbridge and Torcross.

Proper country lanes to beaches like Beesands, Start Point, Salcombe.

Salcombe is beautiful to visit but gets overrun, so I'd go for a more rural place to stay.

I live down here.

Ask me if you need any further info.

We stayed at this one last year and it was nice - has a hot tub and its connected to Dartmoor Llamas and Alpacas so you could feed the animals and also you could book llama and alpaca walks across Dartmoor. Adventure Oakehampton was also a drive away and did lots of adventure activities like gorging. Price is within your budget.

But you will need to make sure you have insurance which covers cancellation as I doubt they would refund if a problem.

@thesunwillout Thank you. I will look into all of those. Do you know what the Paignton or Torquay area is like?

@Silkiechickscat Thanks ive just looked and it’s booked up already!

From what you've described those places wouldn't be for you.
Far to busy!!
Ok for a day trip and an ice-cream.

I think £600 might not be enough in school holidays. Lots of places only take week long booking in school holidays.

Torbay is quite busy, nice for a day trip. Maybe Totnes / Dartmouth?

Or Cornwall - Padstow etc?

Ladram Bay is a holiday park but smaller and on a lovely part of East Devon coast.

Paignton isn't wonderful, but Brixham is nice

Hope Cove, Salcombe, Dartmouth, Totnes all lovely

The Thing about Wales is you can usually find a quiet spot, its not too far to drive as lots of good places are near each other, some ideas here
