With everything going on I need something to look forward too. I’ve stayed in Dorset before and loved it so anywhere along the Dorset Devon coast. Possibly Cornwall but I’m unsure about the drive.
I’d also like to go to the Lake District and new forest but obviously they’re not seaside breaks. Hoping I can get 2 breaks in depending on finances.
Oh and Isle of Wight maybe.
Does anyone have any recommendations or things to do in these places?

If cheap is what you want look at a Caravan or we have shared with extended family in the past.
The Lakes is lovely but often very wet, Keswick on market day is lovely
Try to look at the less commercialised places, this is a nice route.

We feel North Wales is a better combination as you can easily do a mountain and the sea in the same afternoon, Snowdonia is wet but the coast is better, loads of info here

We had a great time in Bude stayed here, again its a bit less touristy, its 55miles to McDonalds so thats a bonus

I’m not too fussed about accommodation although I do like a cottage

Broadstairs in Kent is a great family seaside holiday destination with lots to do, and for many people this is not too long a car journey away. The sandy beaches are amazing, there are lots of pushchair friendly walks, lots of family friendly cafes and restaurants, and Italian ice cream that stops you in your tracks.

If you want coast rather than seaside resort then Northumberland has some stunning coastline and beaches.

Last summer we had a lovely week in a cottage in Alnwick in Northumberland. Beautiful beach, lots to do. Perfect U.K. break.

If it’s not too far Northumbria is fantastic

frazzledasarock · 26/01/2021 11:30

I second Northumberland, we stayed in an Airbnb (pre-covid) for a couple of nights and the beach was stunning and super clean.

If your looking at the Lake District, try looking at Millom & Silecroft.
Silecroft is a village right next to the sea & Millom is a small town just up the road from Silecroft.
Both about 45 minutes drive away from Ambleside & Windemere with fantastic views on the waySmileSmileSmile

@ShabbyNat funnily enough I have found a cottage in Haverigg near Milom. It's right on the beach and way cheaper than the likes of Keswick, Windermere etc. I'm tempted but wondered if the drive into the lakes was too far to do more than once or twice during the week (Windermere seems closer to an hour). Is there much else to do closer to Milom? I see there's the Ravenglass Railway that my son would love. Anything else? Kids are teens. Sorry to jump on the thread!

I’ve just noticed I wrote Alnwick in my post above. I meant Alnmouth. Although Alnwick is also lovely!
