I have failed to find anywhere plausible in Wales / Shropshire with half-term availability but what about this hotel? Any views gratefuly received...

I've not stayed there but have been for coffee adn cake. DH has been there for lunch with work. Very nice and beautiful views but pricey.

Yes horribly pricey, dustystar, wouldn't consider it except for unexpected tax rebate!
"gratefully" in opening post, ughh

Well if you can afford it then its a beautiful location and has a good reputation. What sort of thing are you looking for particularly? Is it for just you and your partner or the kids too? Did you want the seafront or would the New Forest be good?

DH and I have stayed [http://www.woodlands-lodge.co.uk/ here] a few times and it is a gorgeous location. Easy to find from the main road but feels like you are in the middle of the New Forest. Lovely food in the restuarant too.

Haven't stayed at the Sandbanks Hotel but am at you going to Sandbanks for half term.

Miss it.

Anything for a few days which would be fun for children and comfy for adults really, Dustystar. Just desperate to get out of London for part of half-term. New Forest woud be good too...

Ah, slow posting, will check that out dustystar, thanks. I like the look of the ponies...

Well the New Forest hotel i just showed you has a giant sized chess set in the gardens plus grounds that back onto the forest which is lovely for walks etc. Its also close to Southampton where you can go to the shops, go swimming, look at the boats in the harbour or even go on a day trip to the Isle of Wight.

krabbiepatty · 16/10/2007 17:00

It looks lovely, dustystar, and seems to have some availability. I will run them both past the children / DP and see what they fancy. I suppose the beach in October may nto be all that...

It's very nice, but expensive. Seem to remember the indoor pool was a bit dingy. The sister hotel, The Haven, is even nicer if it's available.

dustystar · 16/10/2007 17:07

this place is nice too. My friend had her wedding here a couple of weeks ago.

flowerybeanbag · 16/10/2007 17:07

I got married at the Haven

krabbiepatty · 16/10/2007 17:13

ooh, more to look at. I saw the Haven on the website but it looked less kiddyish - perhaps it was just the name fooling me?

Had my wedding night at the Haven (6 years ago) - lovely hotel stunning view - not sure how family friendly. Ex Poole girl feeling nostalgic now.......
