Hi all,
Looking for somewhere to stay in Shropshire that would be good for me and DH and 4 year old. Hotel, self catering, caravan - all can be considered. Just after a change of scene somewhere with a couple of things to do. Like Blits Hill or Ironbridge oldee worldy museum village. Pretty much everything we have had booked since March has been cancelled and DD is currently off school in quarantine which means we will have to work more of half term that we hoped and are getting a bit cabin fever.

If you want somewhere cheap to stay, the Travelodge in Ludlow offers some very low rates for family rooms. We usually stay with my family in Ludlow but couldn’t this summer thanks to a family illness so stayed here instead. It’s perfectly fine - at the end of the day, you don’t spend much time in the room anyway and there is a pub next door for food.

Ludlow is a lovely town and has a market Mon/Tues/Fri/Sat. There is a very big castle in the centre of town. If you walk down to the river and take wellies, it’s shallow enough for kids to get into the river and many do. There is a nice cafe down there too. My DD lives the handmade chocolate shop in the town centre and there are loads of good restaurants and pubs. Air BnB have a couple of properties in Ludlow. If you go to Ludlow, drive out of town to the summit of Clee Hill - (the entrance to the summit is beyond the village) you can see for miles and miles across the countryside. There’s the remnants of everything from Bronze Age buildings to mining up there. There’s also lots of free range sheep!

My DC have always liked the farm at Acton Scott which is a Victorian farm - www.actonscott.com

Acton Scott is very close to Church Stretton which is a pretty town with lots of good walks in the hills surrounding it.

From Shropshire it’s easy to take a trip into Wales - Ludlow is only 7 miles from the border. Llangollen with its old steam train, canal boats and river is a nice day trip. My DDs have always liked the ‘going to another country’ bit about Welsh day trips!

Enjoy! We’ll probably be up there at half term at some point as well.

Thank you for the tips. I think a visit to Ludlow sounds in order!
I'm thinking Wales is probably going to be off limits for visiting what with Covid.

I've noted Broome Park Farm too because it looks ace and the sort of place that would be good for us to visit with grandparents what with just having two bedrooms.
