Hotel not cleaning rooms?

Just booked a Best Western hotel in U.K., & they state that because of Covid19 they will not be entering our room during the course of our stay.

It probably won't get that dirty for 3 days, and I hope we can collect clean towels every day.

I think this is just a way to save money.

Anyone else had this ?

Why do you need clean towels every day? It’s common practice for hotels to encourage you to reuse towels and has been for a long time.

We had this on a recent uk hotel stay
They happily gave us towels and extra tea coffee milk etc when we asked ...they just didn't come into the room and make the beds etc

I've had this in B&B, it protects you and them. If we needed anything we left a note outside the door and they left it in a box. We kept the same towels.

Save money?! Really!

I work in a hotel, rooms aren't being entered during stays in an attempt to protect both staff and guests from possible contamination of coronavirus. Its a difficult industry to work in at the best of times, even more so right now.

The hotel we regularly stay in abroad is doing this too. Fresh linens and towels will be delivered to your room on request or changed every 3 days if you are there for more than 5.

It makes perfect sense to limit the number of different people entering a room.

We stayed in one for four days recently and had to ask for new loo rolls and tea and milk. We kept the same towels though. Probably would have given us new ones if we had asked. They don’t come in at all anymore during your stay. So no more nicely made bed every night!

Yes, standard at the moment and prefer them not coming in to clean. I never request cjean towels anyway, complete overkill changing them every day. Not bothered if they are saving money, I expect few are at capacity, could be running at a loss at the moment. I feel bad if workers are laid off though.

You don't need clean towels everyday hang them to dry and they'll be fine. Tbh I'd feel better not having random people in my room that could be carrying the 'rona

Even if they are doing it to save money, that's because the hospitality industry is suffering, they've lost £10,000s, many people lost their jobs and others are having to do 3 or 4 roles. I wouldn't begrudge them doing it to keep their business going even if that was the main reason.

We run a small BnB and have clean mugs , glasses , tea spoons available every morning , I ask residents if they'd like fresh mugs etc to take them ( and coffee sachets , teabags etc ) and to leave the used ones outside the rooms and we just collect them and put them in the dishwasher
Bin bags for the waste bins as well
I don't give fresh towels every day ! But if they're staying 3 days or more , they can have a fresh set each

I stayed in a hotel over Saturday and Sunday nights. Our room was cleaned the bed made and fresh towels put in on the Sunday.

I had that but was only staying for 2 nights. I was pleased when I was told during check-in , as I was going to ask if it was possible not to have my room made up during my stay.

Why do you need new towels?

It's part of the fun and luxury to have clean towels everyday. It's one of the things you are paying for.

What are you doing that you can't dry and reuse the same towels?

We stayed in a lovely hotel recently. No cleaning so as to protect the staff and us but they made sure that we had everything we needed.
I felt for the staff because on top of all of the every day tasks they had extra to do due to Covid.

If it saves them money then I’m glad but I can’t see how.

Same here in Ireland. We managed a few days away last month; they changed the towels every day and left more tea and coffee supplies in ziplock bags, but didn't touch anything else. They also left some individually wrapped antibacterial wipes so we could wipe over surfaces ourselves, which I though was a good idea.

We've had 3 short UK breaks this summer and each hotel was the same - if we needed anything please ask as they wouldn't be coming in our room during our stay. Yippee! Didn't have to tidy or worry about when they might want access. To want clean towels every day is not a good habit - do you do it at home? Give them a break as profit margins are tight at the moment.

FFS 🙄 If you'd read the t&cs before pressing "book now", I'm sure it would have notified you than most if not all hotels were doing this. If that's your attitude before you even check in, perhaps you should cancel.

My friend works in a hotel. They're at less than 10% capacity. I wouldn't grudge them a little saving, nor would I want their staff dashing from room to room potentially spreading the virus as they go.

Do you use clean fresh towels every day at home? You must be constantly washing!!

Of course it's not a "saving money" thing, it's to prevent staff going in and out of multiple rooms on a daily basis!
I'm sure if you need additional towels/tea bags/toilet roll, they will leave them outside of your door for you to collect

I recently stayed in a few hotels (work, necessary worker). On hotel had a tablet in the room where you ordered extra towels/teas coffees/order room service etc. I think you could request that your room be serviced but to be honest I did not use it. Items were left in bags/boxes outside your room and a staff member rang the doorbell of your room.

Another hotel had a check list outside your room. You ticked what you wanted and I assume it was left outside your door, no on my floor appeared to ask for anything.

Last hotel did normal room service which surprised me. It was a small family owned hotel though.

Yes, we stayed 3 nights, no one cleaned our room, we didn't need anymore towels (me and 2 kids) we survived.
