London during half term- what to do in the evening

We always go away and obvs our trip abroad has been cancelled. So we're thinking of a few days in London with the kids 13&15. It wouldn't be the first time but usually we'd go to the theatre one or two of the evenings.
Can anybody please suggest evening things we can do apart from dinner and drinking (which would suit dh and I just fine!)

Walk the streets, nothing open except pubs and parks

Bored Londoner here. Honestly, stay at home. Or go somewhere else.

Which area are you staying in? Personally, I'd avoid using buses and Tube wherever possible.

I don't think any attractions are open in the evening. Even a lot of shops are closing earlier.

Exploring certain areas on foot might be good, although not if it's raining and you've already been on your feet for most of the day.

Bloomsbury Lanes

Whereabouts in London will you be based OP? You could check out places like Westfield, they have a bowling alley and cinema there, which I think may have or will be reopening by Oct half term. Otherwise, if you fancy venturing outside of London, you could try a theme park such as Thorpe Park in Surrey, which will be doing "Fright Nights" until 9pm.

We stayed in London in August for a few nights just to get away. It's true lots of things are closed and we just ended up going out for dinner and walking around the city. I love walking around London anyway but October might be a bit chilly/raining. Maybe a restaurant with entertainment built in like Circus? Or an escape room? Many of those have reopened and we have done some great ones in London.

Great area now

Walk around Covent Garden, then through China Town, some great bubble tea and weird dessert shops then onto Piccadilly Circus. Plenty to see.

Last entry on the London Eye is 6pm. Think it takes about 30 min So you could get a meal after that which could potentially while away the evening.
Although whenever I’ve visited London I’ve just wanted to get back to the hotel room with some snacks and put my feet up!

Some of the crazy golf venues are back open. Swingers is over 18s only but Junkyard Golf and Plonk should be fine at the right times

FizzyPink · 07/10/2020 20:05

Backyard cinema is also back open www.backyardcinema.co.uk/winter-night-garden/#winterNightGardenNewTickets

We're hoping to have a few days in a hotel at HT, but we've very much resigned ourselves to dinner, drinks, cards DC on their phones and reading in the evenings.

IrishMamaMia · 07/10/2020 20:11

I think it's probably a good time to visit London right now if you're not too worried about covid. (I'm London based). I did a great Jack the Ripper walking tour one evening a few years ago. They seem Covid safe so I think they'd still be running.
The major museums are open a bit later too on Thursdays and Fridays so you could do that. Strolling around Oxford St and the South Bank are still lovely in the evenings, so a few options. If you walks lots during the day you'll probably be happy to head back for an early night.
Personally, I shall be checking out the techno exhibition at the Design museum this half term, can't wait :)

That's not true, plenty is open! Some of the West End shows are starting to reopen. There is a great musical called Sleepless just opened at a new theatre in Wembley Park (on the Met line on the tube).

Posh cinema? Curzon and Everyman chains are lovely.

We're heading to London for a few days, so will check out some of the recommendations on this thread!

CoolShoeshine · 26/10/2020 22:20

If it’s open the hard rock hotel next to Marble Arch has a spacious bar area where you could have drinks and the dcs check out the memorabilia.
