Lodges for larger groups

We are doing some forward planning and I would love some recommendations.

We are 4 families, 8 adults and 8 children between 13/14 and 6 and think about going away for a long weekend next year. We are in SE London/Kent border and hope for no more than 3 hours drive.

Any idea about lodges with a group of cabins or even a huge house for 16 people? Children can share but we obviously need several bedrooms.

No Butlin/Haven etc and definitely some comfort.

Any ideas???

This might suit www.wildluxury.co.uk/glamping-uk/

Is there a different site than air bnb to use?
I felt really uncomfortable with some of the places I stayed through them in the last few years as they were proper lettings businesses disguised as peoples homes.

Most of the cottage holiday sites (Helpful Holidays, Premier Cottages etc) will have some big houses on their sites.

I've been here before in wales

and it was lovely. Really well set up for big groups.

AirBnB is a no-go for one family, very bad exam and another doesn’t like the company’s concept.

Glamping also is a no if it is a tent, it has to be a permanent structure with toilets and running hot water,

I will look at the links.

Thanks so far.

Depending on what time of year you can let out some YHAs as the whole building. Obviously not hotel level of comfort but much better than camping! I've looked at it as an option for a group holiday for a few families - they have family / en suite rooms these days as well as dorms.

I'm nowhere near you in the country so can't suggest specific ones though

EwwSprouts · 04/10/2020 20:25

We're going here next spring.

I don’t know if it’s too far but there are some old pubs in the Peak District which have been converted and can’t be rented.

Can be rented 😆

I’ve stayed at the one above and this one, both lovely.

It might not be luxurious for you but some of the YHA hostels can be booked exclusively for large groups.

This website's useful: www.groupaccommodation.com/

Kate and tom's specialises in big houses. All over the country from memory. I did a corporate trip last year and it was ace. Really good customer service and the house really felt like someone's home with great touches too.

www.tarset-tor.co.uk have fantastic bothies and bunkhouses in rural Northumberland. It's an excellent location, and perfect for large groups.
