UK coastal holiday with baby and toddler, June 2021

Hi all, we’d like to relocate to the coast for a
month or so next May/June/July to make the most of mat leave and non-school holidays. Planning on renting a holiday cottage/long stay Airbnb.

We’ll have a 3 year old and a 6 month old and willing to consider anywhere in the Uk!

Ideally looking for somewhere with a nice sandy beach, some kids’ activities suitable for little ones and day trip possibilities. Feel like there are loads of places that fit that description so help me narrow it down!

Its so hard as so many places.
I am a big fan of North Wales, some excellent beaches, plenty going on.
Some good ideas here

I’d recommend Great Yarmouth, even though it’s not the naicest of resorts, but it would serve you well for a month. The town has everything you’d need, with plenty of baby changing and cafes along the beach, lots of shops to explore and it’s quite easy to get a pushchair down to the beach. It’s also got a sea life centre for rainy days!
When it fills up at weekends, you could escape north to the beach at Caister on Sea.
Thrigby Hall, Pettits Adventure Park, Pleasurewood Hills and Bewilderwood are all within easy reach.

Thanks so much for the replies! Will look into both of those!

Swanage

Swanage, it's lovely for small children. Do hire a beach hut for all the stuff you will cart around, on Shore rd.

We had a great holiday on the Isle of Wight with a 3 yo (and an 8yo) this year. Lots of smallish attractions (zoos, model village etc) plus all the beaches, easy walks, and a ferry to get there made it all the more exciting. We could easily have stayed a month.

User1990232 · 09/09/2020 20:01

Swanage and Isle of Wight both look ideal! I need to investigate travel as there’s a chance DH might have to pop back to London a few times for work while we’re away, but he quite enjoys long train journeys!

Then he'd live the IOW as he could get the hydrofoil or hovercraft back. Both are amazing Grin Not that the island is massive, but you could stay in a couple of places. Tapnell Farm has some glamping cabins and the soft play barns are great, you do have to pay once but you can go in and out over the week. There are some great beaches and loads of other attractions.

I think from Swanage he'd have to get to Wool then train to Waterloo.

We've been going to Swanage for years and then with DS now 4. We really like it. Nice sized town, sandy beach plus places to visit nearby.

Studland beach
Corfe Castle including the train
Lulworth Cove/Durdle Door
Sandbanks
Monkey World
Poole
Weymouth

Also good round there if you're a National Trust member.
