Family friendly places to eat in Blackpool

We’re heading for Blackpool during October half term with DD 6 and looking for some suggestions for where to eat.
Not especially fussy but not wanting to spend too long queuing for tables. One of us won’t eat Indian and one doesn’t eat cheese so no pizza places

If you go right up to the top of the lights (Bispham) there’s a big cafe on the front called Bispham Kitchen. It’s a fairly traditional cafe, but they sell a huge range of things. The decor is quite old fashioned (but in a quirky way) and incredibly clean. It’s also really cheap too - we stay in the Premier Inn up there and walk up there for meals.

Not been since Covid but it was always quick service before so I guess it would still be ok for that

Yorkshire fisheries, Topping street for fish and chips. There's the usual nandos, McDonald's pizzas. Depends what you want to eat really x

Thanks, we won’t have the car with us so want to stay around the tower area ideally. We’ll probably end up in McDonald’s at some point but hoping for some suggestions of independent places to eat.

Tbh most blackpool cafes and restaurants are child/family friendly there are some independent places look for Clifton street and birley street (not too far from the tower) there's loads around there and if the weather is ok you can sit outside and people watch. There's a harry ramsdens (famous chippy) but i wasn't impressed. Its difficult to recommend places on here..what i like you might hate there's alot of variet. Blackpool is great i love it for all its flaws and problems. I hope you have a great time x

Thank you 😊 will definitely take a look at Yorkshire fisheries and the areas you’ve mentioned. DD is so excited and loves eating out so hoping to find somewhere really nice to make it a great experience for her

Check Trip advisor for current best chippy, its compulsory to eat them whilst in Blackpool!

We really struggled finding family friendly places to eat in Blackpool a couple of years ago. None of the places along the seafront really appealed so it was McDonald’s one night and hotel room service the next. I wished afterwards that we had hoped in the car and found a pub a couple of miles out.

You’ll have the tram though so you’ll be able to go further afield. We live locally so we usually park up in as it’s quieter, have fish and chips, then walk or ride the tram to see the lights.

You’ll find plenty of family friendly places and all the usual chains.

(Our hotel was The Big Blue and eating there is one option. It’s near the Pleasure Beach).

There is an amazing buffet place in Blackpool, I'll have a look and see what the name of it is. I usually hate these type of places but DH loves them 🙄 but this one was brilliant, all the food was lovely and fresh, someone walking round checking the food temp, cleaning etc. They did Indian, Chinese, pizza, pasta, Mexican, they had a big grill thing. I'll ask DH what the name of it was.

That's if it's open, I don't know with covid how buffet places are operating.

foggyfuzz · 28/08/2020 20:28

Mr Basrai's and the chinese buffet are pretty grim tbh, best fish and chips are from 'The Sea' opposite central pier IMO, stick to weatherspoons for pub grub, Pastels burgers always get good reviews on FB, most of the ones around St Johns Church and on Birley St are okay, McHalls bistro gets loads of praise too :)

Florencenotflo · 28/08/2020 20:48

@foggyfuzz that's where I was talking about 😂 I honesty hate these places but though this one was lovely. I suppose it depends when you go maybe?

foggyfuzz · 28/08/2020 20:52

@Florencenotflo someone posted a picture on the local review site in the last week with pics of the filth on the floor, I've been a couple of times and it is great for kids as they can eat random combinations of stuff, I think it might be a bit hit and miss though :)

Shame you haven't a car as Seniors (fish and chips) in noemoss or Lytham is perfect. Lytham also has fairhaven - a lovely boating lake. I have found these little spots outside of central Blackpool (incl poulton le fylde) absolutely lovely. Again without car is impossible to get to guys court on Lancaster canal is great. But I realise these are car needed. So without car i can recommend notrianni's ice cream on Waterloo road, South pier (near please beach). I know all this as dh is blackpudlian. Keep to independent places if you can. Blackpool is a downtrodden area and any money going to local business is great!

foggyfuzz · 28/08/2020 21:45

@Angelik Seniors deliver ;-) agree they are amazing!

Angelik · 28/08/2020 22:05

Ooh can't do Facebook type like nut seniors delivery is God sent!

Snuzzle · 28/08/2020 22:06

Thank you everyone that’s amazing and given me lots to research.
DP can’t get time off work unfortunately so we’re going on the train. We’ve got tickets booked for various attractions so don’t want to waste too much time travelling out of the area.
Definitely prefer to eat at independent, local places and put money back into the area if possible.
