Dream London trip - pretending covid didn’t exist!

So, I have two girls age 8 and 14 who have had an awful year thanks to younger daughter’s cancer diagnosis plus covid - many cancelled fun things and it’s all just been thoroughly rubbish, as it has for so many people.
I want to start planning something for them to look forward to and thinking about London trip. Older one loves history, we haven’t been to London since younger one was born so she hasn’t seen any of the museums. Thinking maybe a show and an afternoon tea in there somewhere? What would you do? Where would you stay? What would make it really special for them? Money no object answers welcome so I can fantasise and cost effective options also welcome for a real life alternative!

Sometimes you can book sleep overs at the museum which could be pretty cool.

There is a Premier Inn just off Covent Garden, which is quite affordable and pretty central, depending on what you want. You are also on the Piccadilly Line to the museums.

I did a tour of the Globe and afternoon tea as an experience voucher, which was good fun and tasty.

Oh and sorry to hear about your awful year. I hope you get your dream trip soon!

So sorry about the tough time you’re having. I’d suggest:

Boat trip to North Greenwich and a round trip on the cable cars (Emirates line) across the Thames.

Jubilee line back to Westminster and a trip in The London Eye.

Taxi up to Trafalgar Square and a walk through Piccadilly Circus to Hamley’s in Regent Street for a toy.

Mad Hatters Afternoon tea at The Sanderson Hotel.

A show of your choice.

Sorry - forget the taxi - it’s a short walk.

So sorry to hear about your daughter's cancer diagnosis. Hope you can make a really magical stay for her and you all.

There used to be a lovely duck tour which went round the main attractions then vehicle went into the river and became a boat tour - unfortunately that's not operating atm until 2021 but there is one in Windsor if that's any use:

www.windsorducktours.co.uk/

Windsor also has the castle and Legoland. Windsor Castle is pre book only.

Legoland now has its own hotel, never been. Only thing is if you need to be super careful with covid I would do self catering somewhere.

Mine loved London Eye and boat trips at that age so would recommend that.

I've never eaten here but this place looks fun:

Maybe London Zoo? You can also stay there overnight. www.zsl.org/zsl-london-zoo/london-zoo-lodge

You can get black taxi tours, never been, this one for example does all the Paddington Bear sites but lots of different ones including a theatre one:

Hope you have a lovely time. Think lots will be pre book atm and check what's open.
