I am all googled out.

Need a holiday ....
Oct between 13th and 21st.

4 to 7 nights.

Me plus 2 kids age 8 and 11.

Self catering probably.

DS wants a tree house or castle (not
essential).

Budget up to £300 total max but hoping for nearer to £200.

Don't know what kind of hols all you single parents enjoy, I am thinking lots of novels and wine.

Would love an activity holiday but to expensive. Might go youth hosteling as I loved that when I was a kid.

are you close to places that have log cabins? am thinking of the Lakes, plenty to do, climbing, walking, boating etc. and relaxing at night if you can wear them out enough.

Skribble · 01/10/2007 00:15

Lake District were on my google list but stuggling to find something in budget. DS would love a log cabin in the woods.

Not been there witht he kids so would be loads to do.

did think your budget a little optomistic for a week - havent looked. i bought an old vw camper and toured - the lakes were always popular as not far away.
what about house swap with someone elsewhere in the country. i know people who do this every year, means they get to tidy up too.

Skribble · 01/10/2007 11:45

Oh no house swaps fasinate me but scare me not a chance of that. House not tidy enough

I would love a camper van, but not likely for £200 .

Perhaps it will have to be youth hostels, I think kids would love that, some fantastic ones in scotland, don't know about lake district ones. All channged from my day thou its all cafes and TV rooms.

What about staying in a caravan somewhere - you can get some really good deals at this time of year.

Skribble · 01/10/2007 11:53

I am not adverse to caravans, I even have my own tiny one, but I don't think I will have a big enough car come Oct (H downsizing my car), plus the heater doesn't work. But I wouldn't mind a static somewhere nice not too Butlins IYKWIM. Woodland estate is more our thing, adventure playground and walks etc. Centre Parcs without the commercialism and the cost .

how about these wigwams should satisfy your ds's longing for something different, and very reasonable

Skribble · 01/10/2007 11:55

Oh fantastic I think the english hols are a week after the scottish ones, might get a bargain yet.

OP posts:
Skribble · 01/10/2007 12:01

Something like this would be good.

Hang on off too look at wigwams.

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 01/10/2007 12:02

Skribble · 01/10/2007 12:06

Location?

Hulababy · 01/10/2007 12:09

Cottages in Scotland Prices are fr a w week from 13th October and within budget I think.

Hulababy · 01/10/2007 12:11

Lake District is dearer, but still some under £300

Skribble · 01/10/2007 12:12

God there are even yurts, did I metion a like a toilet nearby, preferebly one that doesn't involve getting dressed and putting on wellies .

OP posts:
Skribble · 01/10/2007 12:14

Right I am thinking def lake district and not a yurt .

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 01/10/2007 12:21

this is £300 and available

CountessDracula · 01/10/2007 12:22

as is this

CountessDracula · 01/10/2007 12:22

and this

bubblerock · 01/10/2007 12:31

Oh, didn't see your last few posts about def Lake district - I was busy looking for you!

Okay, In case you change your mind there is availability at 'The Barn' for £195.50 13th Oct - 20th Oct which is located at Bancrosh Farm No tree house or castle but there is a Pixie House

Skribble · 01/10/2007 13:44

OK..

Braithwaite cottage good location, cosy, looks like it smells of granny pee . Possible contender but at top end.

Greenach Gragg, again good location, big enough, def granny decor. Poss but again top end.

Sycamore, great location within the earea but looks like it is over a shopping arcade, I was thinking more woodland, turn the kids loose type of place. But hey no granny smell.

Bancosh looks good, but it is a bit too close to home, plus it is only studio apartments perhaps a little too small, Ok I am getting too fussy for my budget .

OP posts:
dustystar · 01/10/2007 16:28

this looks nice.

Skribble · 01/10/2007 16:38

OOh I like that one dustystar, good price, bit further over then I have been looking at, but I think all the ones right around the lakes are going to be more expensive. Thanks.
